well, I just sent in my resignation. I said I would be happy to give two weeks notice or if it was better for his budget take my 3 days of paid time off now and it be effective the end of this month.
feel good about this. dh and i talked last night and he said to do what ever i wanted. i think i will take December and January (we are going to Hawaii the end of January) off and then decide what i want to do.
we are going to my dad's today. not sure exactly what time though.

Congratulations, sometimes the decision making process is a lot more stressful then the actual resigning!

Happy Thanksgiving you guys - enjoy your turkey!!

Ann-You sound relieved. I'm glad you and dh were able to decide about the best way to go.

We had a good dinner and a great time last night. I feel sort of bad for dds...they are off to have Thanksgiving a couple more times today. And the weather is lousy! They really didn't forecast much snow, but we got about 6" and it's still coming. Yuck!

Glad to hear you were able to make a decision you're happy with, Ann.

We're going to my mom's for dinner, and having Thanksgiving at my in-laws tomorrow. It's nice to not have to cram 2 huge meals into one day.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Be safe in your travels and enjoy your friends, family and food. I am thankful for you all. :)

Ann, I'm so sorry things didn't work out for this to be the 'perfect' job. Congrats on your decision and enjoy your time off preparing for HAWAII. (insert hula smiley here) lol

Good for you Ann.
Hope you all enjoy your turkey day and safe travels.

Not too much going on here. I can't go anywhere even though I need to. I need tires on the van really bad and it's too risky to leave when there is snow on the roads. Tires are nearly bald, dh is getting some over the next few days or so. He'll have to go to the store and figure out what stuff I need from the list, it's candy making stuff so we'll see. Need to get some housework done, ds4 is back and forth between good mood and not so cheery. Right now, it's a good one, hope it'll last at least long enough to get the kitchen done. :) I have more calls to make to major appliance stores, looking for a dishwasher. Dh won't go to more than one store so I need to know that where we go is the cheapest for what I'm looking for.

Ann, I know it feels go have made a decision and you do sound like it was the right decision for you. Enjoy your time off now.

I woke up feeling like a truck ran over me: fever, headache, back, knees and legs hurt and I have such a sore throat from all the sinus drainage that began late yesterday.
Glands are swollen on the left and nowhere to go but the emergency room. Wish I had time! I've got to get in the shower and then get in that kitchen to make my contribution to my mil's dinner.

God bless and of you. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

:happydnc: Oh Ann that's great news! I think taking sometime off and really thinking about what YOU want is a wonderful idea. Have a great Thanksgiving at your Dad's

woke up early to get things going for Thanksgiving. I've still got to vacuum the living room floor, but besides that... the house is good to go. Can't do too much right now... mom woke up early and got the turkey in the oven. Dh's picking her up at 12:30, and I'm hoping that by then I've got most of everything done. Sometimes she tries to be too big of a help and, in my small kitchen gets in the way. I try to tell her she's already done enough... but she won't hear it. Hummmm... I wonder where I get that from?? Shelly and Dawn have to go to their in-laws after they've eaten here, so I know they probably won't be staying too long. Hopefully they'll be able to stay long enough for dessert cause I've got 3 pies to get rid of. I'm glad the weather is cooperating... what a nice day. Hope you all have a great day today!! I'm SO Thankful to have all of you in my life. ;)

Good morning! We're headed over to mil's around 1:00 or so. Such a long walk, lol (next door). I'm glad we don't have to travel.

{{{Ann}}} I'm glad you've come to a decision. :) You do sound relieved!

Happy Thanksgiving, all! :)

Dh and I provided a Thanksgiving meal today for a single father with three girls. We got their name from the old pastor. My sister came in a 7am to help me cook and we just got back. The guy with his girls weren't even there and the "babysitter/girlfriend" was sound asleep. I can't help it, but it pissed me off. I got no impression that she was grateful or even knew we were coming. The man knew when we were going to get there, but we didn't even see him or the girls. I feel like I was robbed of the human contact of it all. I didn't want them to grovel at my feet or make them feel bad about receiving charity, but I wanted to smile at them and say Happy Thanksgiving and leave. I know if you give charity, there should be no expectations when doing it. I can't figure out why I have issues right now.

Dh and dd are sick, so they are staying home. Ds and I are heading over to my parents here in about 1 hour.

May you all have a blessed and peaceful day!

If they knew you were going to be there, maybe that is why they were not. Maybe the father is embarrassed and he and his daughters were afraid they would be recognized. Maybe they thought you would know them from a school, church or something. Sorry you missed the human contact part of it and the girlfriend didn't seem to care or be grateful, maybe she didn't seem that way because it 'doesn't affect her' ?(

Hope all the sickies feel better.

Thanks Mel. :) I feel better about it now. A gift is a gift to be taken anyway the person wants. We don't know these people and my kids wouldn't know them because they live in a different town than us. Maybe there was some pride or shame that kept them away, so I will leave it at that. It isn't like they signed up to be sponsored. My pastor knew them and knew they were falling on hard times. He actually asked the guy if it was okay for us to do this for him. So the fact that we sought them out vs them seeking a hand out may have affected the way the whole thing was received.

Wow, Ann! Good for you.

We just got back from my sister's house (about 2 hours away). Had a great Thanksgiving lunch, and a really fun time visiting with my family.

Not planning to get up early for the "deals" tomorrow morning. But I may stop in at a couple of stores later in the day.

Hope you all had a great day!

I go through these feelings a lot!! All you can do is give with the right heart and not worry about their end of it... You did a really super nice thing and I am grateful for you caring the way you do!!!
