Today is my first day at work. I don't anticipate drama :thumb: with this job, so I won't need to take emergency bathroom breaks while co-workers are rooting through other people's computer files  I always get a tad nervous until the routine kicks in, but I just remind myself that its only 4hours a day. That is nothing. :D

I think we may be getting the weather that you mid-westerners got. It is 45 now, but by late afternoon, it will drop rapidly with snow. We just got the old snow melted! LOL

It's freezing here today... not enough snow for :frosty: though, lol.

I hate to even tell you all what I have going on today because it sounds hideous! Brich's comany had a MAJOR downsizing yesterday. Brich still has a job, but is being moved out of corporate and into the field. It'll be less money for a while, but we are ever grateful he is still employed! I felt so sorry for everyone yesterday and for many it was a big surprise, brich was very sad. Oh, how I wish the economy would turn around, but next year is looking worse than the last.

On a fun side note, I bought a collar for Sophie that has a bell on it and I love knowing where she is so I'm not constantly worried about stepping on her. It is red and glittery. I think I might have issues??

It is brrr cold here. We got a front with "Canadian Air". It's only 44 and with the wind chill it's 30!!! only going to be in the 50's today.

well, once again...i WILL clean out my pantry today. i seem to have trouble getting motivated! LOL
got an email from ds discussing his current grades, his game plan and his schedule for next semester. what cracked me up was it ended "Love, ds". his emails usually just end with his name! LOL

oh Angie, how stressful but yea that Brichard survived. It is scary. I worry every day cause dh is in a 'luxury' business too.

too cute about the collar, but you will still find yourself searching for her when you DON'T hear the bell wondering what she is up too...just like a toddler! LOL

Oh Angie, that is so sad that all those people were let go right before the holidays! :(

Ann-love how ds is sucking up! ROFL So he is passing everything else?

This seems like a really family oriented law office. Supposedly, they had the afternoon off to go X-mas shopping. If that is any indicator, then I can probably expect lots of food/parties over drama. Watch me catch some lawyer doing something immoral. LOL

Hopefully it won't be a lawyer doing another lawyer. LOL (where did that trashy thought just come from??)
You may have hit the jackpot with this job at this holiday season! :)

Angie, whew! So glad Brich is safe and I too, feel for those who lost their jobs esp. here at the holidays. I hold my breath for dh's job, but he says they have work at least through January, so I'll hold my breath again then. :)
And how cute about the dog collar!! It must be about the size of a baby bracelet if she's still only a pound or so. :)

Ann, so ds has seen the error of his ways huh? :) Did you threaten him with community college?

I am off to work and work then picking up sd from day care since mom is picking up dd from a late play practice. This way, she won't be driving in the dark all the way out here and back home. Gotta take dd shopping for supplies for a WWII project due next week. Dh put the tree up last night but I have NO idea when it'll get fluffed, lights or decorations. Dd's schedule is C R A Z Y until next Friday, therefore MY schedule is crazy. :goofy:

Up early and trying to motivate myself to get up on my treadmill. Once I'm on it... I'm fine, it's the actual getting on it I'm having a problem with.

It's cold here too... a whole 12, and I don't think it's going to get too much warmer than that. I HATE winter, hate the snow... the cold, absolutely nothing good about it. ;) Thank God I don't have to go anywhere today and can stay in my comfy clothes in my nice warm house. If anyone calls and invites me over... I'm turning them down. ;)

The cat kept me awake the better part of the night last night with her loud meowing... Ugh, I can't believe she just keeps waking up. I don't mean for that to sound bad, I love her to pieces... but OMG that Meowing is driving me absolutel crazy. It's not just all night... it's all day too. Vet say's she's not in any pain, she's okay and that this is a normal thing for an old cat to do. GReat.

Anyway... better find my way to my treadmill.
Hope you all have a great day...

i still bet there is drama! LOL

yep, he is doing pretty good in his other classes. here is part of his email and then part of my reply.

ds: I don't know whats going to happen in this class. I am trying to work it out, but it is kind of my fault. I asked my counselor what I should do, and one of the suggestions was to take take an F and try to bring up econ. and math an A and B so my GPA won't be shot. I will keep in touch with news of the situation, and please don't get involved.

Me: Writing 101 - F isn't good. If you take the F will you have to take the class again? If you take the F, will you be able to pull up your GPA? I won't get involved, it's not mine to fix. It's your responsibility.

Your schedule looks good. Are you taking two history classes? You don't have to take a math or are you just taking a break? How did your advisory session go?

I know it's fun in college, and not having anyone telling you what to do is the best benefit. I get that. But, TCU is very expensive, even with the scholarships and grants you have. Daddy and I aren't paying this kind of money for you to spend more time partying than going to class. I am sure pledgeship was time consuming, but part of being a grown up is learning to set your priorities.
I know you can do anything once you set your mind to it.
I love you.
Mom

we shall see.

Dd1 is still home sick. I'm starting to get paranoid about her getting Kawasaki again. She's got the same symptoms. The odds of her getting it again are astronomical, but then again the odds of her getting it in the first place at age 11 was astronomical too. I'm going to see if they can fit her in at the doc's office today.

It was freeeeeeeeezing in boot camp this morning. 28 degress with windchill in the upper teens, and 15 mph winds. Ugh, it's the winds that get me the most. It cuts you to the bone coming off the lake. I came prepared though. I went to REI last night and asked the saleslady to set me up, and boy did she! I was actually hot part of the time. My face was the only thing frozen.

I had to cancel Ava's ECI stuff today, so nothing planned.

Have a great day, all!

Oh Angie, Glad to hear Brich was spared...cute about the collar, does she like it?

Ann - well at least the lines of communication are open and working...ds lol...

Sista - I'm tired just reading all that is going on at your house.

Amy - sounds like a fun office, I can't wait to hear what you think about it.

Diane - good for you hitting the tred mill everyday.

Beth - hope dd doesn't get it again either.

Up and going, its only 45 degrees outside right now, supposed to hit 68 as our high....I am anticipating a busy day, boss is back from a trip this morning so there will be lots of catching up. Home for easy dinner and family time.

Ann, I hope ds can work it out so his GPA isn't shot. Can he do anything to get better than the F or is it too late?
Amy, have fun at this new office. I have to be honest, I look forward to some kind of story! LOL
Angie, so glad Brich is still employed, how sad for those who are not and at this time of year. :( Cute about the bell collar. Dh wants a little dog so bad, won't happen but when I hear things like this, I'm kinda tempted to get him one. lol
Sista, good luck with the crazy schedule.
Beth, fill us in what the doc has to say. I pray it isn't Kawasaki again.
Diane, your sleep sounds as miserable as mine. Only here it was dh's alarm on his phone. He had stuff going on at work and needed to make sure that something kept running on the computer all night so he set it to go off every hour so he could get up and check the computer. ugh At one point we were both thinking 'okay, one hour, so better hurry up and fall asleep'. Well, that just makes it worse to fall asleep again. lol I'm napping with ds4 today.
Like you Diane, I have no where to go today. I was thinking about Christmas shopping but it'll wait.
Renee, enjoy your family time tonight. We'll be doing the same, I think we are all in tonight. Wow, that is rare through the week.
Older boys have early dismissal today. Oooh, I just remembered that I have to go to ds3's school later, parent teacher interviews. Hope you all have a good day. :)
I can hear ds4 with his new phrase again "yabba dabba doo". I don't have a clue where he picked it up but ds3 is insisting ds4 watched the Flintstones the other day so he must have heard it there because he's been saying it all day yesterday and today. LOL

give that cat a sleeping pill!! lol

Let's just say that when you're laying there trying to get to sleep and that's all you can hear (I compare it to a cat in heat or a baby crying very loudly...) you're very tempted to do whatever it takes to get it to stop.

I ended up only working 3 hours today because the controller didn't realize the preggers girl who is training me had a doctor's appointment at 1pm. Knock on wood ladies....I really think this will be drama free!!! Everyone was super nice and the accounting office is very laid back and supportive of each other. No behind the back scowling or talking under your breath feel to the place. The women are competitive or catty either. Whew! Best yet is that I am on the 16 floor and I have a corner office with huge windows. I over look the city skline and river. I felt like I worked in NYC. LOL

Amy, I'm glad it went well, but I'm with the others... I'm gonna miss the drama!

(((Angie))) I'm so glad Brichard still has a place in the company. What horrible timing for those let go. :(

Ann, sounds like a good dialogue with ds. (I'm taking notes for a couple of years down the road, lol!)

Jenn, how the heck do you do all of that? 8o

Diane, could you give the cat a sleeping pill? I know you can give dogs Benadryl, so I wonder if you could slip the cat a Mickey somhow, lol.

Beth, is there any news on your dd yet? (((HUGS)))

Renee, your weather sounds like ours right now!

Mel, ugh! I hate it when I wake up to dh's alarm once in the morning... I can't imagine it every hour! 8o Happy napping! :D

It's very quiet at my house right now! Dd1 went to pick up ds2 from school, ds1 and dd2 are out and about. All four of them are leaving around 2:00 to hang out with friends and go to a movie. 8o What the heck am I going to do with myself??? Dh and I might sneak out later (when care group kids come) and get some ideas for gifts for our major Christmas shopping outing on Monday. :D

his reply to my email....

Yeah I know the writing situation is bad. Some of it is my fault but a lot of it is out of my control. I got unlucky and missed the wrong class. My teacher isn't very leniant or cooperative, but I guess thats the difference between college and high school. I looked up the best possible grade I can get, and it would be a D, but it will be hard. I'm not going to give up on it though. I can make up the GPA, I just need to do really well on my classes next year. Thats one of the reasons I'm taking no math and two histories.

I know yall pay a lot for college, but I assure you I am not focusing on partying over school. Just because I talk about Sigma Chi when I am asked about school doesn't mean I hold it more important, just more interesting. This first semester was a good learning experience on how to budget my time and how college really works. I know an F is not a good thing, but true failure is not learning from your mistakes (something I learned in pledgship). It has definetly been a wake up call and I am still working hard to fix it and I will continue to work hard to fix it with my grades next semester.

Love,

Ugh... dh just called sooo pissed. Seems that AMS (the company that downloaded our files) charged us double for their service and maxed out our charge card. Hopefully he'll be able to get this straightened out by the end of the day. :grimace:

On a good note... we received a large envelope in the mail today from a cousin of dh's. (remember the one we met a few years ago... the smokers?) Their dad passed away this past summer and dh was a pallbearer at his funeral. She sent us a ton of pictures of dh when he was one/two years old... plus, pictures of his birth dad. We had ever only seen one picture of him, and it was so small you could hardly see his face... but these are nice big ones. Dh looks exactly like him. It's weird seeing someone you never met that looks just like someone you're close to. I can't wait until dh gets home so he can see them... he's going to be so excited.

Anyway... better go make us some dinner. Dd#3 will probably stop over on her way home to see the pictures, so will probably stay for dinner.

Looking forward to a night of good tv... which reminds me that I've got to remember to record Grey's Anatomy and Er for Dawn.

most here do pledge first semester, mine didn't and i remember everyone being so surprised. i wish his didn't but maybe it's better to flame out first semester and know you need to work your butt off 2nd sememster, rather than finding yourself in this position at the end of the school year.

the interesting thing is he didn't know i knew about his english grade. all of this was on an email i had sent asking him to send me some pictures of him for a christmas card. i wasn't even asking him about his grades. dh and i were trying to decide how we wanted to handle the news.
i am sure there is some smoke blowing and in the email i sent him i referred to what a gift writer he is. he took it to mean i was talking about his english class and i said 'no, in reference to what you are telling me'.
we will see. i know he wants to stay.

i think the thing that irritates me the most is this teacher was so impressed with his writing that she sent one of his essays into a national contest. he definitely had an advocate in her and he blew it.
