Soooo much to do today and I haven't been to bed yet! lol
Dh's brother, wife and dd are here from Atlanta! We all got together after dd's dance class and just had a blast hanging out.
Sil wants to go with us in the a.m. to get dd's pointe shoes.... I really hope it's not a terribly long appt. (I hear it can last up to 2 hours). Afterwards the nieces are meeting us downtown (by the dance shop) for Mexican food.
We'll all need to head home to decorate for the party and make sure everything is in order. I am feeling stressed!!!!!!
Better go, got lots to do before I fall asleep! Happy Saturday ya'll!

Ugh...I can't sleep!
Dd1 has her all-region choir audition today. There are too many students that want to try out for it each year, so each school is only allowed so many students to attend the auditions. Out of 150 choir students at her school, she was one of 42 chosen to go. Only 26 girls will be chosen for her part out of who knows how many hundreds that are in this region. Those aren't very good odds.
Hoping to have friends over tonight for dinner and games.
Have a great day, all!

Sista, why would it take 2 hours to get the shoes?
Hope things go smoothly today for you Sista!
Beth-your dd exhausts me! LOL She is quite the achiever!
I need to get a shopping list together and go food shopping this morning. Another storm is coming (thanks Angie!) tonight and I rather have all my ducks in a row. This afternoon, my family is going to celebrate dh's, my sister and brothers birthday at some German restaurant. Then dh, ds, and dd are going to my old college hockey game tonight. I will be tracking the weather for that one. I think I will watch Momma Mia again.

Good morning....
Lots to do today, but won't get even a fraction of it done because we'll be at basketball games most of the day. Oh well. Hope you all have a really good day!!
I had a terrible time getting in here last night? Did anyone else? This site kept freezing up my computer. Very frustrating. I wondered if maybe one of the advertisements was causing the problem??

Good morning everyone... I am teaching right now, and then I am going to help my mom put up the Christmas decorations. I am going to hop in the shower then, and I have plans for the rest of the day with a friend. I can't wait.
Had a great time at Homecoming last night. Dgs was one of the attendants and he was soooo cute. Dgd wore a cheerleading outfit and even went down on court and did a cheer. She was very frustrated that no one would throw her in the air however!
Today I've got to pick up the house a little and then spend the lion's share of my day at school! Ugh! I'd be more motivated to do anything if the darn sun would come out. It's supposed to be a pretty raw day until late when the sun may make an appearance before going down.
Slept till 7:00 AM felt so good.
I have the usual :laundry: laundry and house work to do....
Dh has some movies rented :munch:
it was a long night, after work, dh and I hit Costco, then Super Walmart, and Sams...filled up this house with food for the next two weeks.
DD was still freaked out about the earthquake we had Thursday night 4.5, and then yesterday the Santa Ana winds kicked up, 45 MPH winds....she was invited to a friends for a sleep over but was so freaked out she asked to go with us shopping, then curled up with me for the rest of the night trembling, poor kid, how can you be afraid of wind?
Soooo much to do today and I haven't been to bed yet! lol

It felt sooo good being able to sleep in this morning. Can you believe I didn't crawl my sorry ars out of bed until almost 9:00? I can't believe I did that. ;)
My mom's stress test went well... at least she thinks it did. She lasted 7 minutes at various speeds, (starting out slow/low incline) speeding up as time allowed. She's suppose to get her results next week. I haven't heard anything from Dawn yet, so I'm assuming everything is still okay with her. She's got to go in on Tuesday for a Gestational diabetes test... her #'s were a little on the high side when she went in last week. :( Poor kid has had such bad luck with her pregnancies.
We have some errands to run today, SAM's, Wal*Mart... we went and checked out Costco last night and liked what we saw, but were not sure if we'd like it more than SAM's. They're a lot alike, but a little different in some things. SAM's is actually closer to us... so I'd kind of like to stay put, but it depends upon what Costco has in the way of office furniture/supplies compared with SAM's. I'm sure we'll end up back there a few more times before deciding...
Anyway, my date (my treadmill) is waiting for me so I guess I'd better get going. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

We love Sam's Club and have been members for 7 years, for just before Christmas my boss got us a membership, at Costco its pretty much the same as Sam's in my opinion too.

i couldn't afford to do both. even though sam's is closer, i think costco has a better selection of meats/produce. you also don't seem to have to buy as big of quantities. sam's also seemed more geered towards businesses/stores and costco to the family. go to costco and walk around, see if you like it better before you join.

Really? ?( How so?
It's not just here... it's everywhere.
Chuck E. Cheese's bills itself as a place "where a kid can be a kid." But to law-enforcement officials across the country, it has a more particular distinction: the scene of a surprising amount of disorderly conduct and battery among grown-ups.
"The biggest problem is you have a bunch of adults acting like juveniles," says Town of Brookfield Police Capt. Timothy Imler. "There's a biker bar down the street, and we rarely get calls there."
It isn't clear exactly how often fights break out at Chuck E. Cheese's 538 locations. Richard Huston, executive vice president of marketing for the chain's parent company, CEC Entertainment Inc. of Irving, Texas, describes their occurrence as "atypical," saying he has heard of "four or five significant adult altercations" this year. But in some cities, law-enforcement officials say the number of disruptions at their local outlet is far higher than at nearby restaurants, and even many bars. "We've had some unfortunate and unusual altercations between adults at these locations," Mr. Huston says. "Even one is just way too many."
Fights among guests are an issue for all restaurants, but security experts say they pose a particular problem for Chuck E. Cheese's, since it is designed to be a haven for children. Law-enforcement officials say alcohol, loud noise, thick crowds and the high emotions of children's birthday parties make the restaurants more prone to disputes than other family entertainment venues.
The environment also brings out what security experts call the "mama-bear instinct." A Chuck E. Cheese's can take on some of the dynamics of the animal kingdom, where beasts rush to protect their young when they sense a threat.
Stepping in when a parent perceives that a child is being threatened "is part of protective parenting," says Frank Farley, a psychologist at Temple University and former president of the American Psychological Association. "It is part of the species -- all species, in fact -- in the animal kingdom," he says. "We do it all of the time."
Now some towns are asking CEC to step into the ring. Amid pressure from local politicians, some Chuck E. Cheese's have stopped serving alcohol and added security guards who carry pistols.
CEC has been tightening safety rules to deter fighting in other ways. In Milwaukee, the store posted a sign outlining a dress code that prohibits what it calls "gang-style apparel." That location also implemented a code of conduct that prohibits knives, chains, screwdrivers and glass cutters. CEC is considering systemwide signs at popular games such a machine that draws digital pictures of customers to let people know there may be a time or token limit. Making the machines more expensive to use is another option, but Mr. Huston says that is "inconsistent with our value message."
In Pennsylvania, Susquehanna Township police are searching for suspects involved in a Nov. 9 altercation at a Chuck E. Cheese's outside Harrisburg. The police department gets called to respond to disputes at the restaurant as many as 15 times a year, Police Chief Robert Martin says.
This most recent assault, described in police reports, occurred after a woman in her 30s approached a 6-year-old boy who was playing a videogame. When the boy went to insert more tokens to continue playing, the woman grabbed the tokens out of his hand and told him to stop hogging the game. The boy went and got his 26-year-old mother, who walked over to the woman. The woman began screaming at the boy's mother, and another suspect, a man in his 30s, grabbed the mother by the throat and pushed her against the videogame machine. CEC employees had to pull the man off the mother. Both the man and the woman fled the scene.
my cousin's son has been work for CC since he was 15 and has never had an incident...and he would love to tell if there was! LOL
where is that article from?
my kids aren't doing the Chuck E Cheese scene anymore, but I haven't heard anything like this around here.....what a sad situation

OMG That is wild. We don't have CEC here, don't quite get what it is, I've heard of it and figured it was a restaurant, family style that had arcade games for the kids. But they serve alcohol? Bad mix! :nonono:
I'm waiting for ds4 to sleep. He didn't nap today, just a few minutes after 2 failed attempts. He is getting more quiet, good thing. Normally he goes to sleep really well so tonight I went in after he started really crying, picked him up and read him another 3 stories and sang about 5 more songs. Not a good habit to get into after we worked so hard but he has been okay for a long time and for whatever reason (overtired probably) he just needed the extra lovin' tonight. Poor babe.
Took ds2 and ds3 to the movies last night to see Bedtime Stories. Loved it, very funny.
Not much going on, saw the doc the other day. She at first said she would not recommend me for the hyster saying I was only a catagory one, (well, I would hate to know what a 3 or 4 feel like if this is a 1). But because of the pain and heavy periods, she'll do it. Chances are it won't be for 6 to 9 months, but I do go for the bladder test at the end of the month. Can't wait for it to all be over. Am a tad upset it won't be this spring so I can feel better by summer. So be it.
Guess I need to catch up more in here, did some reading earlier and forget what I read. lol
Sista, congrats on toe shoes! how exciting. why would it take two hours?

I saw them on FB Kat... and they're absolutely ADORABLE!!! Your grandson is quite a handsome little man and your gd quite a little lady. Those twin girls were so cute too. What an honor it was for them to be chosen for this event. :) You/dh must have been so proud!!!

Gosh there is so much to catch up on here today!
First I'll explain why it takes so long to get pointe shoes (it's a shorter story than the party. LOL!)
If you are lucky, you get a great fit early on, but to fit the foot properly and to keep the toes from bunching up at the toe box, the rest of the shoe has to fit perfectly. Around the widest part of the foot, it must be a very tight fit to keep the foot supported (I never knew pointe shoes had a very very hard sole screwed into it) b/c when you go up on pointe, gravity obviously wants your foot to all end up in the end of the shoe. So, to get it wide enough in toe, and tight enough in the heel.... and there are sooo many brands that fit differently, it can take a while. It only took them an hour to fit dd.
Her ballet teacher was there and 2 of her best friends from the same class were there at the same time, so it was really a big day and very special for her. :) Sil went and took lots of pics and bought her little goodies to remember the day.
Sil's dd and another niece said they'd meet us for lunch, but decided to blow that off. I'm not happy about that at all. Then they said they wanted to do dd's hair for the party and cotillion and they'd meet us at church at 5:00 to do it.... they didn't show up til 5:30. I was so ticked that they kept that kid waiting. Therefore, they were not there when the guests arrived and were late coming in to dinner. Dh had done the prayer and everything had already started. Dd was to do the guest book, so dh and I had to do it AND try to take pics, etc. at the same time.
When we got to church to set up, the way it had been planned, dh's brothers decided it'd be better a different way and changed so much and had no regard for the church when they were putting up decorations (nailed a freaking banner to a wall!!!! argh!), etc.
I really didn't even get to enjoy the party. I called my mom 15 mins. after the party started and said "uh, whatcha doin?" she says "waiting for our ride". UH OH. She thought I was picking her up! I never made that plan, but I ran out (in the pouring rain) got them, got them in.... at 6:45 I had to get out and take dd to cotillion. I got back (it's just down the road), at by about 7:15ish mom and sd were ready to go home.... so back out I go. I get back, help clean up and then it's time to pick dd up. We all went back to mil's house and about 9 p.m. I got to eat dinner! Oh, and alone in the kitchen!!! ARGH.
As I was eating, I could hear mil planning out the wedding shower I'd offered to do for dh's other niece. This kid was to get a guest list to me this week, but she hasn't, and I was looking for nice cafes, bistros, etc. to have the shower (did I say, that I offered to throw? oh yes i did. lol) But mil has decided it's going to be at a hole in the wall Italian restaurant in a strip mall near her house.
Ugh, I've just kinda had enough of dh's family for a while. LOL

Beth - hope the audition went well!! (I haven't checked the Sun. thread yet) :)
Leigh - can you come take down my tree? ;)
Kat - I bet that was sooo cute!!
Renee - I didn't know ya'll had an earthquake!! I haven't been paying a lot of attention to anything this week, I'm sorry. I'm glad ya'll are okay! I can understand her being scared of the wind - it knocks out power, takes down trees, I'd be scared too! :) I remember having our close friend's dd over after their house was so damaged in the hurricane that went over Richmond, and it was stormy the night she was here and she was pretty freaked. We got into a lot of talks about why God makes these things happen. Guess the parents like my answers b/c after that they asked us to be Godparents for the next baby! LOL!!!!
Diane - glad your mom's test went well!!!
Angie - you are quite the party girl!!
Oh Jen, sorry you had such a hard day :buuud:
How exciting for your dd about the shoes...I am sure she will never forget her special day :gard:
:nonono: shame on his family for behaving badly...

Eh, at some point I told myself "it's their party, butt out. so what if dh and i put all our time into making it as nice as we could, if they wanna jack it up, let 'em".
The last straw was when his brother moved the food tables to the area of the room where you come in the door (almost backed up to a wall). They were served soup kitchen style!! ARGH. We had them arranged (with mil's approval) in the middle of the room, which is why the flower arrangement was made to be seen from all sides and people could serve themselves from both sides of the table, not creating a back up.
But... what do we know.
Bottom line, she enjoyed herself. :)

wow, Angie...what an exciting opportunity!!!! (the govenor's dinner, that is! ;) )
The party at CEC was at 10am, and I can say it was the best time to go because no one is there. I know what the article means by "mama bear" instinct because I've had that happen there and at a McDonald's playplace. I would just pack up and leave though.
The governor's dinner was really something! We sat in between one couple, husband was a gyn oncologist/wife was an ob/gyn and the other couple, husband was a IMPD (police officer) and wife was a head at the medicaid office. I was the only stay at home mom at the table, however, one of the women there said her husband was a stay at home dad and he was at home with the kids, lol. There were 850 people there. I just loved the people watching at this event! Nice meal too, salmon and filet mignon. It was very fun!

I'm not really sure what the guys title is who gave me the invite. He was the one who asked me to work as an inspector for the polls in November. His wife and I have become good friends and when they got the invite he asked for 4 tickets. It was $250 a plate, (the VIP tables were $10,000 for the table!) They paid for our tickets as a "thank you." He is trying to get me to do some more political type work in my county. I wore all black, a long skirt and a cute sweater. Some of the women had on really fabulous longer ****tail dresses and furs. Oh and they had such nice shoes. They had all sorts of police officers standing attention around the place and secret service type guys with the little earpieces. Once in a lifetime kind of thing for us...
