There is an upgrade scheduled today for the forums. I will be closing down the boards at 10:45 AM CST and hope to have them back up again within a couple of hours.

In order for the forums to flow nicely with the rest of the site, I would like to update the colors of the forums to match. This would mean light purple and light blue. I promised I wouldn't make a bunch of changes, so I am touching base with all of you on this :)

ALSO, hopefully you received the email yesterday telling you about this scheduled upgrade. The new version of the boards has features that this one does not. Hopefully you will have some fun playing with all the new goodies when it's up!

Lastly, when the boards go live after the upgrade, if you encounter any problems or notice anything funky, please post it here so that i can look into it.

Thanks all and stay warm!

from dark blue/light blue to purple? i have been on one board that used purple and it was really hard to read.

i have been having problems lately with my computer locking up trying to load pages here. I wonder if it's all the new smilies/graphics (i am not as big a fan as everyone else! LOL)

For the colors what I will do is keep the standard blue as an optional style and will make it so that you can switch styles. That way, when someone comes in (a newbie, lurker, whatever) from the site, the default color will match the site. However, members will have the option to set their style preference, meaning you can keep the blue :)

As for load times, it is possible that on certain threads where people are using a lot of smilies they may take longer to load. However, for that to be the issue the smilies would have to actually be used in a thread. Just having them uploaded into the smilie option box wouldn't be a factor.

I keep having ad boxes pop up when I open some threads. What's that all about?

Oh, but this was about colors! LOL Doesn't make a difference to me as long as it's not puke green. ;)

hmm that could be spawning from one of the ads in the rotator. If you know how to do a screen shot please take one next time it comes up and send it to editor@theideabox.com

If you aren't able to do that, please do your best to describe the ad, or click on it and copy the url that it takes you to.

Any of this information will help me to find it and remove it!

Well, here we are :) The boards are now on the most current version. PLEASE tell me if you see anything weird!

You will most likely notice the most changes in the User CP. You will now see social networking options that were not there before. There's also photo galleries, friends lists, visitor messages and tons more. Poke around a little :)

Tags are kind of like keywords. These allow you to "flag" certain threads with words that will help people find things better. if you have certain threads that all pertain to birthday parties you can tag them as such :)

Amanda - is there any way that we could have "new posts" button to click toward the bottom of the page? After posting you have to scroll all the way back to the top to click new posts. Unless I missed something somewhere anyway... lol
