I have a question. Does anyone have any ideas for a Valentine's Day craft that I can do with young children. I am a daycare provider and the children I care for range in age from 18 mos. to 4 years. I need something that is interesting enough for the older children but easy enough for the younger children. Any help would be appreciated!

:cupid:Do you happen to have any mini candy canes left over from Christmas? They are really cute when 2 are put together to form a heart and then they are used to decorated Valentines Day cards.
Draw a heart on a piece of construction paper and fill it in with different shapes of pasta (uncooked). The kids can then paint it, add glitter to it...etc. :arrowed:
Make cupcakes and let the kids go crazy decorating them! :hearttt:

andyandlexismom, Thanks for the ideas. I love the candy cane idea and think I can still find some candy canes.

Amanda, thank you so much for the link! I have found 3 different crafts I can do with my dc children for Valentine's day and even the littlest ones can participate!

I lke the candy cane idea. It's so easy for the little ones. Cute idea. If I have candy canes left I'd let my Gd do that craft.

Hey Sammi, here were are almost at Valentine's Day again! Just wondered if you made any of those crafts with the kids, and if so, which ones?

Hi Amanda, Yes I did make a few of the crafts and the dc kids had a blast. I know one of them was the construction paper heart with ribbon woven around the edges which I then let them decorate with stickers, glitter etc. Another craft we did was a construction paper heart with torn bits of colored tissue paper crinkled up and glued to it (pink, white and red). I think we did one more but I would have to go through my files to remember which one. As Valentine's Day is almost here again, i am looking for more crafts to do this year. The crafts have to be interesting enough for a 5year old but easy enough so 2 year old can also do them. This site has been a great source of craft projects for my daycare!!!

Sorry I didn't get to take any pictures of last year's crafts but if I can get a new memory card for my camera I will definitely take some pictures of this year's crafts

That would be great. I really want to get some new projects added to this site too, so if you aren't subscribed to the newsletter, go to the main site and subscribe! http://www.theideabox.com

You can get paper doilies cheap in packs of 50 or 100 at the $1 shop, You can fold them in half, then fold in thirds to make a pretty lacy cone for chocs or you can do the candy canes and tie with a ribbon and bow, like upside down umbrella.
The paper doilies also make nice box liners for chocs or the like. If you get large scalloped doilies you can cut a few lacy hearts using the scallops.
All that comes to mind right now ...
