Christmas and Thanksgiving and New Years are over. In most places in the US it is cold cold cold. What are some great ideas for getting though the rest of the winter?

Hi Bluebird,
I have a hard time getting through winter when it is extremely cold and I can't really get outside. I read, watch movies, am trying to teach myself to knit, work on cleaning projects that I don't like doing in warmer weather but really miss being outside. Already i am waiting for the warmer days of spring and we have a lot of winter to get through yet.

Hi Bluebird, I do stay indoors much more in the Winter then in the Summer. But every few weeks my dd, dil and I have a girls night out. We do have lots of fun and it gives us something to look forward to. I spend time with my grandkids and we do crafts, bake, watch movies, every Friday is movie night. Also play different games. I do a lot of baking in the winter. Of course Walmart is a good day out even if I don't buy anything. LOL.....Spend more time visting other sites too.

Theresa, i love to do puzzles too. Unfortunately due to the nature of my job and the size of my house, I have no place set up to do puzzles. Maybe someday.

Hi Caroline I thought it was you...Good to see you here...
Sammi I love doing puzzles and with just Glen and I here I have lots of room to do them...I even bought the roll up mats that let you work on a puzzle and then roll it up to put away until the next time...
What do you do to get through the winter? Other than pull my hair out wishing for Summer...lol...sorry just had to put that in here...lol

That's what I need. A roll up mat for puzzles. Can't leave them sit out with 4 cats in the house. The pieces would disappear one by one.
Caroline, I was pretty sure Happy was you.

Sharon, you have cats that would take puzzle pieces, I've got one nutty dog that would not only take the puzzle pieces but eat them too!! He is very playful and has tons of toys but if anything is on the floor or within his reach it's gone!! Sometime I do wonder if he is part cat....lol

All I know is I am ready for spring!
I miss the spring weather and all of the flower and trees coming into bloom but I surely don't miss the spring allergies!!
Fingers crossed, my allergies seem to be under control right now. -- guess they should be since I'm using 2 meds and taking shots 2 -3 times a week, huh?
I'm ready for the kids to get out and play ... and hopefully chase some of these viruses away that they've been passing around. ;)

Never thought I would say this but I can't wait to CLEAN! I need to shampoo my carpets and my cats really need to be out during the day like they are when the weather is nice. Right now they are hairing up my house LOL

I always have cat hair too, and dog hair. It is inescapable! I vacuum daily and it is still everywhere

I vacuum everyday too :-P Do you use those lint rollers? I go through so many of those for our clothes, the couch. UGH

LOL My son is always complaining that our lint rollers just make his clothes look worse!

Guess I am lucky with dog hair...my dog does not shed...but seems I have to vacuum more now that hubby is not using the crutches and going up and down the stairs,he seems to bring lint up with him every time...lol
I can't wait until I can open all the windows and not freeze...

I wish I could skip mud season though, and black fly season as well. I think spring is the season I look forward to the most but is actually my least favorite season if that makes sense.

Theresa I open my windows everyday for a short time no matter how cold it is. I love the Fall of the year when the windows are open all day and the house feels so fresh. In the Summer I can't live without the a/c but I shut in off to open the windows and get some fresh air in. No dog hair here, our dog does not shed.

Sammi that makes complete sense to me...I think Spring is my least favorite season...
Caroline I am with you...I love Autumn...I wish I could open my windows even a little bit right now...but can't because its so cold here right now...I did have the windows opened for a bit last week when it was nice here...but sure will be glad when all the snow is gone and its warmer...
Smiles & Hugs...

Winter is not so much different to summer, (windows still stay open only half way) yes colder but still able to go outside and do all the same stuff except swim maybe, but we don't have a pool so it's a moot point LOL
I do like to bake more I guess ... then you have to eat it all ... love those kilos ... NOT!
