My sister has had a very difficult pregnancy....her membranes ruptured prematurely...and she's been on bedrest for the past four weeks. Yesterday, they decided to deliver the baby...based on some fetal movement tests, etc. She was only at 24 weeks gestation. Baby Emily Rose was born at 2:00pm...weighing 1 lb. 2 oz. She is 11 inches long. Emily will have a long fight ahead of her....and I know that she could use your extra prayers, as could my sister and her dh (and their two dd's). Thanks everyone!!!!!

I know that babies delivered at 24 weeks have survived. Modern medicine is amazing. Sending up prayers for all of you.

Mary,
Sending prayers immediately.

My sister's little girl was 3 months premature and weighed less than 2 lbs. She was in the hospital for 3 months. Once she got home she was on oxygen and they had to find in home care for her. She was probably 2 years old before they could bring her to Grandma's house. Now she is a healthy 9 year old and developmentally I don't think she is behind other kids her age.

Medical technology has advanced so much!! I hope everything turns out fine!!

How's Emily Rose doing today? This has to be so hard for you all but keep the faith! I worked in a NICU and the baby I remember most was a little guy who was 24 wks and was 1lb 12 oz. He made it and that was 15 years ago! It's a long road and takes time but it is possible :) Be sure to keep us posted!

My prayers go out to little Emily Rose and her family. What a scary thing to go through. My cousins son was about 24 weeks when he made his presence known. He weight 1 lb. 3 oz and was 10.5 in. long. He came home when he was about 10 weeks old. He has had no noticable delays and is now a strong health 15 year old that measures 6'3 and 170 lbs.

Wow, Ryleigh! I am going to tell my sister about your cousin's son.....sounds similar to her baby's stats. Went home at 10 weeks....That would be so wonderful! I'll start an update post!
