I am a SAHM of 3. A 5th grade son, a 2nd grade daughter and an almost 3 year old. Live in So Cal and volunteer a ton at the kids school.

Hi Juxie! Nice to meet you and welcome to TIB :) That's great that you volunteer at school. I know my kids still to this day remember me being around, it's important if you are able!

What type of things do you do at the school?

Hi Juxie! I have a 5th grade son, too! They can be a handful sometimes, can't they?

I also have a dd in kindergarten.

I also volunteer at my kids' school as their room parents--although I this school doesn't rely heavily on their parents to do much, which is a bummer.

I hope to run into you around the boards!

Our school relies very heavily on the parents. This year I am PTA pres as well as webmaster for the school's website as well as helping out in the library and other areas. Keeps me out of trouble :) I am so not a domestic goddess so I have excuses as to why shirts weren't ironed :)

Way to go! :)

Due to moving because of my dh's job, my son has attended 3 different schools in 6 yrs. I was really involved in the first 2 and really miss the involvement this year.

There's a good chance that we will be moving this coming summer and I'm hoping that it brings a new school again. ;)

Welcome Juxie! I've got grandkids and I still help out at the school but this year not much help is needed. It's fun and good for the kids to know you are playing a part in their school system.....

Wow that's great! A good friend of mine did that forever for her four kids. All her kids are grown now, but it's truly amazing, wherever I would go with her someone knew her. Didn't matter where! "Hi Jo-Ann!" LOL Everywhere.

When your kids are all grown you are going to be so happy that you did this.

Hopefully no one takes this the wrong way and thinks I am downing them because they don't/can't get involved at school! That's not what I am saying :) Many parents can't because of work or other obligations, or it's just not for them. There's nothing wrong with that.

I wrote an article quite a long time ago called How Busy Parents Can Stay Involved (http://www.familycorner.com/education/busyparents.shtml). It gives ideas for those parents that can't get involved AT the school :)

Good for you juxie!
