Daycare Contract?

I'm am new and will be opeing an in home daycare. I am currently putting together a contract and I would love for some ideas and tips from those with some experience. Or even a sample of their's. I just want to make sure I don't miss anything that might bite me later.

When I had my in home childcare I learned that some parents would drop off early and pick up late. Due to this pratice I would charge for early drop offs and late pick ups. This charge would go into effect if drop off was more than 15 minutes early or pick up was more than 15 minutes late. This would help stop the " I had a few things to do before getting the kids. " Remember your time is yours and you will need some time for yourself or family. Good luck

I don't run a daycare, but had my kids in several different ones when my first two were little. I think every daycare should have that rule because it is easy for parents to stop off here or there first. :)

kpdevore, I have been a daycare provider for more than 20 years and I still absolutely love it! Though I don't have parents sign a formal contract, I do give them a paper that lists all paid holidays I have off, what I agree to provide (lunches, snacks etc.), what I need them to provide (extra set of clothing, diapers etc.), what my hours and rates are, when NOT to send their child (fever, vomiting within 24 hours, any contagious illness), when my vacation is (I take two weeks off a year), and any other information I think they may need. I do say I charge for late pick up and I also ask for two weeks notice if a child will be ending daycare and I give two weeks notice if I can no longer care for a child. Also, though I provide lunch and snacks, all of my dc moms contribute food as well. They all bring things like juice, pretzels, boxes of Mac n cheese, animal crackers to share which really helps. It isn't something I require but they do it just to be nice. Also, I do allow parents to send their children their own lunches if they choose to. It is all a matter of personal choice. I love my job and have a great group of children. I wish you much luck and hope you have your daycare up and running soon.
