well, dh has this, and after a trip to the ER on Sunday Morning, we now know all the particulars on it, as well as his PVC's, or stopped beats.....he has this leaky valve.....but should be able to live a normal life, and do all the things he wants with minimal problems....a cronic problem for him will be fatigue...but we are already dealing with this......on a positive note we are thrilled that this is nothing life threatening.....and his doctors are working with him on some exercise stratiges as well and some diet and vitamin issues.....as for me I am glad he is alright just trying to get him back in the spirt of he is OK....:tinysmile

Great news! I have friend who has this and they kept telling her she was having panic attacks till they finally got it diagnosed!

Many, many women have this and it isn't a problem for them. I guess there must be different degrees of severity, but I have it and have experienced skipped beats and palpitations throughout my life. It has not interfered with my life - I am very active. For some time, the recommendation was that for any dental work, if you had MVP,you needed to be pre-medicated. My CA dentist told me this recommendation has changed, but my dentist here still wants to premedicate. You might want to check with his doctor/dentist re that.

Hope he feels "up" soon.

thanks everyone, he is feeling better knowing what exactally is wrong with him......Oh and Karen he does need to take antibiotics before going to the dentist....funny huh, but I guess they are suseptable to bacteriall infections around the heart....

Renee-you are right about the heart being susceptible to infection. I have an extra blood vessel in my heart and my aortic valve leaks which means I have to take antibiotics when I go to the dentist or have babies. The cleaning of your teeth can release lots of bacteria into your blood which your heart can't clean as efficiently. Probably lots more info than you wanted. :)
