I am trying to put together some "Get Well" gift bags for two kids on dh's basketball team. One just had knee surgery and the other is in the hospital for sure through this week. He is having surgery today because his lung has collapsed twice within a month. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what I could get? They are high school guys. I bought a bunch of munchies/candy, but was hoping to get something else. I am just drawing a blank. I thought about a crossword book or something for the one still in the hospital, but didn't know if he'd really like it. Also thought of throwing in Sports Illustrated or something like that?? Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!
How sweet of you!! Deck of cards, books on tape, music tapes, comic books????

I can't think of anything right now, but if I do I will let you know. I think that you are doing a very kind thing. There need to be more people in the world like you.

I would say CDs, magazines like Sports Illustrated or other interests they may have, perhaps a biography on a famous basketball player (I know Larry Bird has one), maybe one of those cute little suction basketball nets with foam basketball just to kill time?
Really sweet of you!

Thanks gals for the ideas and kind words! These kids work so hard and are so nice - I just feel like they deserve something. I think I'll pick up a couple magazines and cards to add in with their treats. Dh also got some homework assignments for the guy still in the hospital - I told him there was probably no hurry and I better send treats along with that! LOL! Thanks again! :)
I just had to add, I too, think that's so nice of you! They will love it :) I hope all are well and recovered soon! :)

Thanks! Dh called the one who had lung surgery today and he said he is doing okay. Dh is stopping to see him briefly tonight. The other one who had knee surgery is such a nice kid, too and is really bummed because he is out for the season. He still goes to watch their practices and offers support for the team, and I think that is so nice of him. We sometimes hear pretty negative things about teens today in the news or wherever, so it is reassuring to know kids like these. :)

Just wanted to add how nice I think you are for doing this for these boys... I hope they enjoy all the nice things you put together for them.
