Dh has requested a good steak when he comes home. I went to the store today and asked the butcher for a really good choice steak and he chose a cross between a ribeye and T-bone. I guess it has the ribeye in the middle with a thick bone on the side. These things are HUGE and THICK. I always like to marinate steaks, but the butcher said don't kill it-it doesn't need a darn thing. Well, I can't grill it with just NOTHING on it (LOL), so what kind of seasonings can I put on it to enhance the flavor?

Sorry, no help here. We marinade. Usually with red vinegar, oil and seasonings. Lately I've been trying some of the prepackaged marinades. What kind of marinade do you use?

I absolutely love Lawry's Tequila lime 30 min. marinade. I usually soak it a day though:)

Im looking for ideas besides the basic salt, pepper and onion powder.

If it's a really good piece of meat, DON'T add salt at all..it will toughen it up. If you must season it, squeeze a little lime on it and then add some cracked pepper right before you grill it.

We never marinade our steaks. I just tenderize it with a meat pounder (looks like a metal hammer). and put it on the grill. Some rocks/briquettes used in the grills add like a hickory or smoked flavor. I never use salt or pepper, I leave it to the the individuals to season as they like. Sometimes I will put BBQ sauce on shortly before taking them off the grill.

I usually marinade in Dale's seasoning sauce. I absolutely love it and so does dh, but not as much as me. LOL!!! Don't leave it too long though or it will be to salty.

When I cook a steak, fish or chichen, on the grill I use a good spice rub. A spice rub actually seals in the juices and amplifies the flavor of the meat you are grilling.

All I do is cover the steaks with Spicy Barbecue sauce, and season with black cracked pepper. I put it in the fridge for about an hour or two before grilling it.
