Does anyone know of any sites that have recipes and rules for group cooking?? Three other women and I want to start a group where we get together and cook meals to freeze for each other. I guess it is sort of like OAMC in a group?? Has anyone ever done this??

I found lots of OAMC sites. I just hoped there were some "group sites." Maybe we will just split up the different OAMC lists. One of us can do pork, beef, chicken and (misc, veggie, breads). ?(

Howdy,
I had some friends who did a dinner exchange for several months. They sat together first and made up rules and how this was to be done. They also went out and purchase sealable bowls for everyone in the group. I wasn't in on this, but hear that everyone enjoyed it.
I had tried with a neighbor to have a dinner exchange night. I cooked on Tues. and She did Thurs. It was fun for the first month, but got difficult later. I would definately have a planning session, and set rules!! Also make sure that your cooking styles match up!!

Now, I as I am typing this I wonder if a dinner exchange is what you have in mind Or is it just cooking buddies????

Good luck with which ever you decide.

Three of my friends and I spend the day together alot. We break up just in time to rush home and throw something together for dinner. We just thought that we could actually get something accomplished while we spend the day together!! We do want to exchange meals. We thought maybe start with each person doing one meal. Four family size portions and swapping them. Does any of this make sense??

There are a couple of groups at groups.yahoo.com

groups.yahoo is one of those places where you sign up to a group for a specific subject. When someone sends in a recipe or question all of the members receive the e-mail. You can also look at the archives, some only if you are a member of that group and other archives are open to everyone. I know the freezer-friendly group is very popular but its a very high volume list. I belong to a couple of different groups there.

Have you considered just doubling (or quadrupaling) a recipe you already like and exchanging half of it? You can even include a copy of the recipe. That way if they enjoy it they can keep it. If you are spending the day together you can fix that nights meal (oor main dish or side dish) together and not worry about freezing. You can rotate around which house you prepare it at and maybe even set up a schedule. Say a ground beef recipe the first round, then a chicken one the second round. Maybe make one round a side dish and you can already have hamburgers, chicken, hotdogs at home waiting to grill. If you do this one day a week it would take you a month to get through each person. Cost will probably be fairly even if the meat item is the same for everyone.

Ever thought about rotating a craft day? You could start on Christmas gifts now.

My mom's homemaker's group does this. They all get together and rotate who is providing the food. Recipe included. Another person provides the drinks. A third provides the craft project with supplies. A fourth provides the house. She has loads of fun. Her group is large enough that two people share some duties (2 for food, 1 for drinks, 2 for craft, 1 for house). The crafts are just something small/inexpensive for her group. Another person will also *share* a more expensive craft on occasion. By that I mean they demonstrate how to do it and give out the instructions. My mom did gifts in a jar one time. I had sent her stacks of recipes and she just gave out the recipe booklets that time. Another time she did bath salts. I had given her a simple recipe using epsom salts. They each made a baby food jar sample.

Thanks for the great info Lynda! We have done crafts before but it is pretty crazy with all our kids. We made 4th of July t-shirts this summer with 7 moms and 19 kids. We are going to do crafts again after school starts. We did originally plan to just quad our own recipes, but thought we might find something new, fun with step by step directions! I am going to check out the yahoo group to see what I find. Thank you again!
