My computer is haunted

I was just scrolling down the screen and suddenly it made the sound of a light thump and a squeeky door opening, like you would hear in a scary movie. Do I have polterguists???

Anyone else hear of this??

Do you have AOL IM or MSN chat? they make those sounds when someone on your buddy list comes online.

Mine does that too. It has something to do with the settings in "My Computer" and then "Control Panel" and then "Desktop Themes". Have you changed your desktop theme recently? It gives you the options of all sorts of different sound effects when you open and close programs, minimize, goof up or whatever. :0) Mine is driving me nuts right now because it's a jungle theme and we have screaming monkeys and macaws! :rolleyes:

I used to have the jungle theme on ours, but it used to scare ds if the computer was in standby and it would make those noises! Recently changed our desktop theme to mystery and we hear a lot of the creaking door noises. :)

Amy - our new house is 6 years old, not old enough for spooks I don't think, at least I hope not.

Ann - we do have AOL but not IM as far as I know, no buddy list that I have saved anyway.

Maybe dh set up a buddy list, or some other wacky thing just to freak me out. That would be just like him. Maybe I'll have to hunt him down. I don't know where he (and BIL) took off to they just said 'be back soon' and took off on BIL's motorcycle.
