Any one know of anything to help loose skin peel off a sunburn painlessly and quickly. ds is beginnig to peel from head to toe and is "ringbearer" in a wedding this coming Sat. Even if I can get his face cleared up, the rest of him will be covered.
dd is past being concerned about him as is back to nagging him. She keeps telling him that he will look like "Roudolph the Red Nosed Ringbearer" He just laughs and starts chasing her.
I'm glad he's able to laugh about it! :) The only thing I've found that makes you peel faster is a hot shower. Ouch! You might try a light body scrub if it doesn't hurt him. Or a lightly abrasive loofah.

When dh and I came home in 99 he got burned really bad, and I used a loofah really lightly to help get the dead skin off. It worked for him. Good luck.
this sounds strange but it works.....use regular cheesecloth, and noxema.....it will start to heal and peel instantly.....
glad he is feeling better...:tinysmile

Any chance of playing in pool? (Something in the shade!) Maybe soaking will help.
I like the other methods mentioned. They sound like they are all using something mildly abrasive (loofah, cheesecloth). I'm a big fan of Noxema for sunburn healing. Salt aids in healing too. They say that wounds heal more rapidly at sea and we just had a discussion on using salr for mouth sores. So maybe make a salt rub? Spas do that to get rid of dead skin. I'd test it on a small area first since if there are any open areas that would HURT. Also be carefull with the eyes. Spas do the same thing with oatmeal. I've never had any luck with oatmeal though! Otherwise there are some nice facial scrubs out there. I use Oil of Olay Daily Renewal Cleanser with Beta hydroxy complex with gentle microbeads in it. It has a mild abrasiveness to it to slough off the dead skin.
If he still has a redish hue and want to get rid of it you could consider makeup. I'm sure DS (and DD) would love that! You can get powder or coverup in green. That counteracts red. Maybe put a little green in face lotion. Again I'd test a little first to see that he doesn't react adversely. I'm not suggesting full makeup just the green to counteract the red.

thanks for the ideas. He was in the pool for a bit today, but I'm limiting his sun exposer for a bit. lots of sunscreen and made him wear a t-shirt over his swimming trunks. he thought that it was funny that he could wear a shirt to swim. His face isn't as bad as it seemed but the rest of him is peeling like a snake. I keep telling him not to pick at it, but he still tries when he thinks no one is looking. dh told him that if he keeps picking at it, he will buy some gauze wrap and wrap him up like a mummy and then he won't be able to move. He just laughs and says "ok, let's do it"

ok..call me stupid, but why can't he peel it off? Isn't that what your original question was "Any one know of anything to help loose skin peel off a sunburn painlessly and quickly." ????

Sorry to confuse you Ann.
Yes, we want the dead skin to peel off, but ds gets a little carried away and is picking at the skin that hasn't loosened yet and is creating open sores on his arms. We are afraid of it becoming infected. We just thought that if we could use something that would remove the already loose skin, then he wouldn't be so tempted to pick at it and cause life long scars.
aha!!!! now, that makes sense! LOL
