Dd is turning 7 in September. She is really stumped as to what kind of party to have. Anything new out there? Thanks!
Is there a beauty school near you? Call them and see if they do birthday parties..we did that for dd when she turned 6 and it was so much fun!!! Do you have an indoor pool near by? Have a swim party..we had dd's 7 at the YMCA..they have a big blob to play on.

Hi Kathy. What about a tea party? My girlfriend did this for her dd when she turned 5. She bought straw hats (at the $ store) and lace/ribbons/silk flowers etc and had each girl decorate one as their keepsake.
She made finger sandwiches, lemonade and tea.
Can't remember what they played for games???

Thanks for the suggestions. Ann I love the beauty parlour one, I remember when you did that for your dd, but so far not luck here, although maybe I will call the beauty college. She has already had swimming parties, they are always a hit, although not as novel at the end of the summer.
Darlene the tea party sounds adorable, maybe I will run that by her.
Have your kids ever been to a "1/2" sleepover? All the girls come for supper and then a movie and popcorn, they get in their jammies and stay til about 10, then the parents come and pick them up? dd went one last year and she loved it, might do that.

How about a "Breakfast Birthday Party"? I know someone who did this and had a blast! The kids all arrive (in p.j.'s) at 8:00a.m. Have a fun "Barbie Workout" video.....Do each other's nails....Have breakfast foods.....(including birthday cake!!!!).... You could do some sort of craft like decorating small mirrors, or small jewelry boxes (from the craft store), treat bags could include granola bars, nail polish, hair curlers, cute washcloths and soaps, etc. The kids go home around 11:00!

I love the 1/2 sleepover idea! Ds had a campout party in our living room one year (his birthday is in January) and I let him invite every boy in his 1st grade class. By the next morning I was saying that no one was getting any kind of a birthday party ever again!
You could incorporate some of the beauty parlor ideas into the 1/2 sleepover. I saw some adorable party kits at Costco not too long ago that had nail polish and stuff in them. That could serve as an activity and favor.
