Hello All,

With school soon approaching, I am looking for some new ideas for lunches. My ds age 6 is going into grade 2 and eats at school.
He is picky, so I amhaving trouble thinking of new things to send him instead of peanut butter and jelly and noodles everyday.

 Thanks

Howdy,
I know what you mean about picky eaters and school lunches. My dd is in 2nd grade and has never had a school lunch. I have tried to get her to try one, but no way!!
So, each morning I pack her lunch and yes it is usually the same thing! Or a variation of her favorite thing!

There is a link on the homepage of ideabox with some ideas in there.

Good luck!!

I do alot of leftovers in a thermos for my dd (soup, stroganoff, spagetti). Both kids will eat left over fried chicken or pizza. I do cheese and crackers, tortilla roll ups, yogurt and fruit (this is mainly dd cause she isn't much of a sandwich person) DS is mostly a triple decker pb&j, yogurt, chips and cookies every day. He will occasionally do the fried chicken or leftover pizza. Ironically, both my kids will eat things from the school lunch that I would have never thought they would have eaten! LOL

My dd is also very picky. She has yet to try a school lunch. Last year I sent either PB&J, Steak Fingers or Chicken Nuggets. She loves speghettios I have thought about sending that in a thermos but wasn't sure if it would stay warm enough.

I know none of these lunches are very good for her but that is all I can get her to eat.

MM! My children will eat raw veggies if I include blue cheese salad dressing. They will even eat the fat free dressing. ßß!

Everyday I send my son raw veggies (2 kinds) and then either bologna or pepperoni (he loves it!!! and it is one of the few things he will eat, so I send it). I was thinking about sending chicken nuggets or a hot dog in a thermos. (Like another said, these aren't the best food choices.) To AnnW and others, do foods stay hot/warm enough in a thermos. Do you do anything special to the thermos or in preparing the food? Thanks for any help you can give me. Kathleen.

They haven't said anything about it being cold. I just make sure it is really HOT before I put it in the thermos. I just use the one that came with the lunchbox, but I think I am going to get one of those short wide mouth ones cause they are easier to eat out of.

I used to pack my lunch in a thermos. I could still burn my mouth after it was in there for 5-7 hours.
