What are your feelings about school uniforms. Do you think they are good or bad for the kids. Would you prefer your kids to have them?
personally I wish that all the schools would have a uniform code...it would make shopping for them so much easier....and the competion for Those famous brand sneekers, jeans, etc....wouldn't necessarily be an issue.....could bring all children down to the same playing field...but then again...kids will always tease each other....and even though they might all have to dress alike, I don't think that uniforms would solve social issues....just make shopping easier for mom and dad...sorry this was long and drawn out...having somewhat of an off day....

Our school has uniforms...and we love them! It's a uniform dress code...and quite liberal! Pants....tan, navy blue, or black (no jeans...no cargo, etc) Skirts/skorts/jumpers...same colors as pants. Shirts: Lt. Blue, Navy, White, Forest Green....has to have a collar (golf shirt)...our middle school students can also add a red and a black shirt. Our "spirit wear" (school sweatshirt) can be worn any day. We have one "spirit day" each month (wear our school colors...crazy hat day....etc), as well as one "dress down/jean day" each month. It's so easy to get ready for school in the morning. No one at school complains about it. They complain more about keeping the shirts tucked in! Which is always an issue. LOL I'm all for "individuality"...and my kids certainly have "trendy" clothes for off times...but at school clothing is not a competition, and no one feels badly if they don't have the "cool" items. (I'm in a parochial school....and uniforms are the trend around here.)
