My computer is losing time...

I think someone else posted a similar problem not too long ago, but can someone help me?

Maybe your missing time, came to me. I seem to have a few extra minutes. It is now 6:53PM but the ib tells me the time is now 7:04. ?(

How old is your computer and what system are you running? Are you losing time in both Windows and in Dos.
To check the time in Dos you must exit Windows. If you are using Windows 95 or 98 etc you can access Dos by selecting start, programs, MS-Dos Prompt. This will open a dos window. type time at the C:> and this will display the current time on your machine. The time can also be changed from this location as well as the date. To change the time in windows double click on the time clock in your task bar. If this does not resolve your time issue your c-mos battery may have to be replaced. I hope this information helps.

I'm experiencing the same problem. The idea box say's that it's 6:53 but according to my clock it's only 6:40... hummmmmm. At first I thought my clock was wrong and called time/temp... and my clocks are fine so...?? Who knows. :)

I wouldn't use the Idea Box as a good gauge. My time is often off from it. What happened to me before is that a battery for the computer went bad. It was a fairly simple fix from our IT guys, but I'm pretty bad when it comes to hardware issues.

You can reset your time by double clicking on the time box in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Up will come the time and date. You can reset to the proper times, and if you still have issues I would inititally suspect you have a bad battery, particularly if your PC is a few years old.

Brichard - I already reset the time like you described and it still lost time, then seemed to gain time and then stayed where it was. ?( Not even sure how old this PC is (pathetic, I know LOL) - dh bought it from a friend in the spring, but I am pretty sure less than two yrs old. I will ask dh. Thanks for your help! I am such a chicken when it comes to doing something "new" on here. :)

ok, I have extra time...LOL...my clock says 6:35 pm and the ib clock says 6:48 pm.....oh well....wish it was bed time...LOL...

Yes - don't use the IB clock as your gauge. The clock on our server often runs fast by a few minutes.

--We've also had the 'losing time' problem on one of the computers at our home. It's a pain!

I think it was definitely just our computer. I noticed a general time loss and not just compared to IB. Thanks, Pam! :)
