Morning gals!!! Went to DS's "Arrow of Light" ceremony yesterday..that is when Cub Scouts graduate and become Boy Scouts. It was amazing!!! We were at a state park, so the Webelos (graduating scouts) and their parents were escorted down this pathway lined with tiki torches by older scouts dressed like Indians to a big campfire area where a real Indian in full head dress did the ceremony. It was about 2 hours long!!!!! Each child got a real arrow with an arrow head as the point, painted with his name and all his accomplishments on it (badge colors). The Indian talked alot about how much the boys should appreciate the
sacrifices that his parents made to get him to this point in his life. He tied our wrists together and told the scout to look to each side and he would find his best friend, the
people who would always be there for him no matter what, always have his best interest at heart. Then he cut the cord to symbolically show how now they are becoming independent, he then had the scout turn and "kiss your mother and tell her thank you" and "hug your dad and
say thank you". He also talked about how there was one person in the room who could keep them from accomplishing their goals in life, one person who do anything to make sure that they didn't succeed..he told them to look down at their feet cause this was the ONLY person who could keep them from accomplishing their goals..themselves!!! It was really very emotional!!!!! I had no idea it would be so touching!!!
The dads and sons all stayed for an overnight camp out and moms and siblings came home.
I was so proud of dd too...it was a long and probably very boring and confusing thing to sit through for a 6 yo..but she was fantastic through the whole thing!! Most of the other siblings her age were not. We didn't get home till late, so I am letting her sleep in this am.
Gonna plant some pots of flowers today...that's about it.
Have a great day ya'll!!!
