Ok so I took the surgical tape off my stitches today...the tape was itching me, doc. said it was ok to remove the tape...anyway...its ugly...the stiches actually look like they will hardly leave a scar, but you know how that goes...:heks: I was wondering if rubbing vitamin e or Aloe Vera plant on the stitches will help now, or should I wait for the doc to remove the stitches on Friday and then apply one of these ointments....thanks in advance for your advice.....

My naturopath friend has recomended calendula (sp) oil to me. (Look for it at a health food store.) I'd also ask your doctor first.:)

Use vitamin E cream, or vitamin E oil. You can massage it into the area as long as the incision is closed. I'd recommend doing it 2x a day. It will really help to lessen the scar. My dd has had 2 surgeries and that is what we did. Also, the 'scar massage' will help to de-sensitize the area.

I also remember seeing a commercial recently for an over the counter scar reducer cream. I can't remember the name of it, but I am sure that a pharmacist would know if you asked them.
