KarlaB has inspired me to make some peanut butter cookies. The recipe I have says butter or shortening? What is the difference in the baking? Would one or the other make a softer cookie? (we love the soft ones)

What does your recipe say?

I think I have this right...butter makes crisper, flatter cookies and shortening makes softer, higher cookies.

Cookies are in the oven.

How is this for a peanut butter cookie recipe

1 yellow cake mix
1 cup of peanut butter
1/2 cup of cooking oil
2TBS. water
2 eggs.

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Drop from a teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Press a criss-cross on each cookie with fork that you have dipped in water. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees or until golden brown.

This is not the recipe that I made. I wonder how these taste??

I have a friend who swears by those Crisco butter flavored shortening sticks.

:yippee: So glad I inspired someone to do something! :yippee: :D

When I make choc chip or M&M cookies I use butter and butter flavored Crisco...a little secret that my mom taught me. People always want the recipe. :) In my pnt butter cookies I used just butter and they were flatter than a pancake! :\ They do not look like typical pnt butter cookies, but they still taste yummy. :licklips: My mom told me butter will do that, so I will make a note for next time. :)
