well this morning, I trimed ds's hair around his ears...he wants it to grow out this winter, he had a buzz over the summer so I can understand why...LOL...I buzz dh's about every two months, longer in the winter...I personally am letting mine locks finally grow out, its short now, I want it about shoulder length...wish me luck....dd on the other hand had really long hair until this morning.....we were combing it out, and I realized that I have never trimed it, and its all split ends...so out came the scissors and we cut it shoulder length in a "Rachel" bob around the face and bangs.....TOOOOOO CUTE....she looks so adorable...and she loves it....anyway we then had to go to walmart to get new brushes and shampoo.....LOL...we needed other stuff too....

Got me to thinking how often do you all have your hair and your childrens hair cut? I want mine to grow, so should I be trimming it alot or just let it go all winter...

Dh and dks are usually every 3-4 weeks. I wish I was brave enough to attempt doing dks myself!! When growing your hair out I think it is best to still get the ends trimmed so that you don't end up with split ends and to keep your hair "shaped" in the process. :)

Don't really have a set schedule..it's more like they walk into breakfast one day and you look at them and realize "hey, you need a haircut!!!" LOL

dw has hers cut every 5-6 weeks and the girls every 12 weeks. She trims theirs inbetween those times.

I cut mine every 2-4 weeks or whenever I can start seeing grey again LOL

Like AnnW, we wait until one day we realize it has to be done! I know DS had his cut in the last week or two of school, once over summer and just last week. Guess that's about every 8 weeks? If needed I may trim his a little in between cuts. I cut DD's myself. Mine gets cut less. My hair grows very very slowly. I think all my body's hair growth effort goes to my legs! I can remember when DH was getting his cut weekly. Now he's probably at every other month.

I take the dk's every 6 - 8 weeks just for a quick trim. Helps control split ends and tangles.

Myself I go every 4 - 6 weeks. It grows really fast. I have been told at a couple of different salons that if you want to grow your hair out quicker you need to have atleast the tips trimmed every 4 weeks. somehow this stimulates it to grow faster.

Whenever it is sticking out from under his hat! His hair is wild, and I'll say "Your hair is sticking out, do you want me to fix it, or do you want to wear your hat?" Usually he chooses the hat. When it gets too insane, dh will use his electric clippers and go pretty short, but for a treat we go to Haircuts for Kids, which has these cool cars they sit in. He likes that. It's a great bribe.

Sadly, dd has never needed a haircut! She's twenty months old! When ds was this age, he had these long beautiful curls down the back. Everyone thought he was a little girl because of the curls and his long eyelashes. Everyone thinks dd is a boy unless she's wearing a dress!

Ds hates haircuts and it usually gets pretty long between cuttings, then he always gets it cut short. I go every 6 weeks now that my hair is shorter, but I'm finding that with all the layers I'm having a much harder time covering the gray.

Amy I did not have any hair until I was 4. People kept telling my mom if she would cut what I had, it would grow. Once she did I had a flowing mane of blond hair.

Kat~ If I cut the hair that dd has, she would be BALD. Literally! She has a couple of little wisps in the back...but tell me, why does cutting the hair make more hair grow?

Also, I gave up covering the grey hair a long time ago!

I have lost my stylists, so I am trimming my own bangs and letting the rest go for now. I will be getting a cut next month to freshen the back.

I trim DD's bangs when she asks. (Usually when they start getting in her eyes!) She did mention the other day that she wanted to grow her bangs out. I am not so sure about this.:(
We shall have a beauty day - when I take her to get a professional job done. Hey, this better be soon!! (Thanks for the reminder) School pictures are next week!!

Kacee..as long as she will commit to wearing barrettes or a headband or lots of gel!! DD is growing hers out now, and fights me on the barrettes and it drives me crazy! LOL The bangs are now long enough that we switched it to a deep side part and use lots of gel and the blow dryer each day. She looks so much cuter without the bangs, but boy it sure has been a pain.

MOTHERS...never cut bangs on your daughters!!!!!!!!!!!!!
