My name is Diane. I live in Minnesota. I have been a WAHM (Day Care Provider) mom for 21-1/2 years and have just recently finished my degree in early childhood education. I've been married for 26 years to dh Doug who is an Insurance Agent. We have three dd's... Dawn, 23 who will be graduating from nursing school this May, Kristina, 21 who will be going back to school this spring for computer graphics, and Michelle, 16 who is involved in many school activities, her favorite right now being Cheerleading. (She's their stunt flier)
I enjoy walking, (for exercise) gardening, and reading when I have the extra time. I collect wind chimes (40 of them) and porceline dolls and I also enjoy doing a variety of different arts and crafts... My most favorite thing to do though is to find time for/to myself and RELAXING! LOL

I did it origionally to help me with my day care... but now I'm not too sure what I'm going/want to do. I've always loved being able to be home for my own family... but my girls are all old enough now and at the ages where their seldom home anyway... I'm beginning to feel a little bit antsie about finding something different to do OUTSIDE of the home. Thing is, I make a LOT of $$ and it would be very hard for me to find something that pays me as well home childcare does. My dh of course would like me to continue with what I'm doing... but I'm still debating. :o)

Diane - My mom has also been doing day care in her home for over 20 years and could totally relate to the antsie feelings!

As much as I enjoy the children, I'd really like to find something TOTALLY different. I'm not too sure if it's burn out that I'm feeling but I just don't feel as if I'm doing anything worthwhile anymore. I've felt like this a few times before but I just continued on doing it and after a while just got over it... Maybe I'll just get over it this time too! :) LOL

Okay, are you my mom in disguise?? LOL! We are both in MN! :) My mom has said the SAME thing!!!!!
Diane,
I also am doing daycare in my home here in the land of snow (Minnesota). We are about 120 mile from MLPS, no schools closed here but the snow is really coming down. I took the kids out for over an hour this morning. Had a great time! Almost warm enough for snow men, another degree warmer I think would do it.

It's nice to have another Minnesotan here! Welcome!! I am in MN also - which direction are you from the Mpls area? Looking forward to seeing more of you here! :)
Hi, to all in Minnesota. I live by Alexandria, off of I 94. almost between MLPS and Fargo ND. We moved here about 2 years ago from the St. Cloud area. That was getting to big for me and the family. My oldest started school and I had a hard time with the class sizes, rotten kids on the busses, and a handful of other things. So we moved to small town USA and love it. Of course this wasn't the only reason for moving but a big one. We now have 3 in school and one 3 year old dd. (9 yo - ds, 7 yo - dd, 6 yo -dd, 3 yo - dd)

Wow, it's so nice to see so many people in here from Minnesota! :) There use to be a few others, but since the board changed I haven't seen them posting. Welcome all! I live in a very small community... St. Paul Park. My in-laws live in Moorhead and dh has a lot of cousins and aunts/uncles who live in Fargo. :)
Guess I'll have to put in that I'm in Minnesota as well. Originally I am from the Iron Range an hour north of Duluth. Currently we are in a northwest suburb of MPLS.Ann, I don't like the large schools down here but we're going to try our church's private school which is very small to see if we like that.
We lived in Duluth for the first 2 years after we got married. I loved it. The city had so much character and lots of things to do. We now live in the town both my husband and I grew up in. My sons 2nd grade teacher was also my husbands 2nd grade teacher. The superintendent was my track coach. I never thought I would move back, but there is something nice about the familiarity of everything. We also looked into the Christian School for our kids but by the time all 4 were enrolled it would be out of our reach financially. We concidered home schooling but at the time the oldest was to start I was expecting the 4th baby and had 6 daycare kids. I thought I might not be able to handle it all. So here we are, seems to be a good move so far.
