It's me, KarlaB - I am having computer troubles, so desperate me got our ancient computer hooked up so I could get on here and get help! I re-registered so I wouldn't lose current threads because I will never get to them on this SLOWER THAN SLOW thing! :tearhair: It took me no less than 1/2 hour to get to this point! :banghead: (Sorry, David! You can delete this second identity of mine once I get back on my other computer.)

Here's the problem....When I try to dial up on my computer I can't. It tells me it can't connect due to a hardware problem. Does this mean I need a new modem? When I went into my control panel to investigate I accidentally deleted my current modem set-up and I have no clue what kind of modem I even have to re-set it up. I have no idea where to even go from this point....

The hard drive is also running very loud - I mean I can hear something that sounds like a motor revving up, then down, then up.... :nervous: It sounds sick and like it is having troubles even running. ?(

Can someone PLEASE help me?! Pretty please? The thought of the potential withdrawals has me very :nervous:

Hang in there, I'm sure someone will be able to help. All I can do is sympathize at this point. Good luck on fixing the problem.

I have NO CLUE what's wrong with your computer but... I hope you find out what's wrong and are able to get it taken care of real soon. :)

Hmmmm... Hardware is not my forte. I can mention it to some of our computer guys, but my gut is that they will tell me that it could be a number of things. What model of PC do you have? I'd start thinking about getting an estimate to repair it, and you also might want to start looking at deals for PC's in your local paper. We got an amazing deal on a Compaq at Staples. It has a Celeron Processor, but after rebates we spent under $400 and got a new printer. Also, you can just buy a tower on line if your monitor and keyboard are ok.

I wish I could be of more help, but I'll ask!

I'm back online!!! A friend came over and ran our recovery disk and somehow got the modem to work again. She said it sounds like our fan is going out and should be replaced. She is asking another friend how difficult it is and if it's fairly easy she offered to do it!! :yippee: Otherwise we will take it in. I am just so glad I'm back!!! Thanks for the advice everyone!!! :)
