My dd hid her favorite Blues Clues shirt with juice spilled on it. Now it has mildew stains on it that don't wash out. Any ideas on getting mildew out of clothing?

TIA

What color is the shirt? Could you try soaking it in bleach water? Good luck!!

Items that are white or colorfast can be washed with chlorine bleach, which is probably the most effective mildew remover. Otherwise you can soak the clothing in warm, soapy water and borax. If that still doesn't produce results try combining 1/4 teaspoon of bleach for colored clothing (oxygen, not chlorine bleach) and 1/4 cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide (the kind used for medicinal purposes, not for bleaching hair). With a clean cloth, gently rub the stain until it's gone. Launder the garment and air-dry in the sun if possible. Hope this helps...

I have found that a handful of powdered dishwasher detergent improves the effectiveness of my laundry soap. It's the phosphates (that were removes from laundry detergents) that helps. I also try never to dry (in the dryer) an item that was stained, until I'm sure the stain is gone. Of course, I'm not a laundry nut, but I'm a lover of the quick and easy tips to make me look more domestic....hey, every little bit helps.
