Sounds like a fun day!! Good luck on getting the carpet down. I bet you are enjoying seeing the project all come together. You are a REAL Texas girl huh?-going to the rodeo even. :)
It is snowing here AGAIN!! I had one of those crummy mornings. Jay didn't get up very easy, then he was a total grouch. I hate putting him on the bus in that mood and HUNGRY!! He wouldn't eat breakfast. I hope this experience is a good teacher cuz its gone a long way in ruining the start of my morning. I told him he would be in bed at 7:30 tonite so that maybe it would be easier for him to get up in the morning. I just feel like a rotten mom when we start out the day like this.
Sorry to have to drag you down w/the details I just really needed to vent.!! :)
Zach has a poetry program at 12 so I need to get my work done so I can get to the school.
Enjoy your day!!

The worst part about mornings like that is that it stays with you all day, but the kid has totally forgotten it the minute he steps on the bus!!! LOL I started getting my kids up a little earlier to give them the "piddle time" that they seem to need..cut down on me saying "hurry up, hurry up, hurry up" all the time.

The rodeo here is a huge deal!! It is two weeks, has major entertainers each night besides all the cowboy stuff..people like Reba, Shania Twain, Vince Gill, Randy Travis, Brooks and Dunn, 98 degrees, Barry Manilow, Duran Duran, ect. When I was growing up we had a school holiday on "Go Texan Day" which was the day the trail riders came in which was the kickoff to the rodeo.

Hope your day gets better...vent away anytime..that's what we are here for!!!! :) :)

Tuesday again...looking forward to watching the Mole tonight....my kids were funky this am too....got the boy on the bus after an argument about how is blue jeans were black and not blue so how could they be jeans.....urgh....dd wants to eat only at breakfast and not at lunch or dinner, so she wants ten bowls of ceral....yikes....finally got break she is watching her 1/2 hour tv program....Cold and snowy here....we are so broke that I am trying to transfer balance the credit card to a 2.9 interest rate so that will help, also trying to cut food cost down, since I am not bringing in any money being a SAHM.....I feel so helpless...sorry to vent, sometimes mornings are hard.....guess I will just get over it now....LOL

Hi Hon!! To echo Ann's comment-you vent anytime-thats what we are here for.
I understand the feeling about being powerless to earn $$ as a SAHM. Sometimes it seems like the bills are overwhelming!! Hang in there.
The conversation you had w/Chase about the jeans is something I could battle w/Jay. He complained this morning that his jeans were too short (they were perfect yesterday) and that his socks were too baggy. ARGHHHHH
Hope Maddie enjoys her 10 bowls of cereal. I just had a great niece born 3 wks ago whose name is Madison and goes by Maddie. It is such a cute name. Is your Maddie a Madalyn or Madison??

RCT

She is Madeline, pronouced Madalyn...should have spelled it that way, but you know....I really like the name Madison....the battles in the am are tough sometimes, and funny others....I hear the sock thing and the jeans too long too short...he also can not wear a shirt that has buttons on it...too funny.....I know I sound so loser like when I whine....but It stinks sometimes not to have any $$ to contribute to the bills, we were on top for a long time, and then when DH had his episode with the er at thanksgiving, it sucked up all the extra money now it goes to paying the doctors bills after the insurance part and the emergency root canal dh had at christmas....my sil gave us some extra $$ to buy the kids some new clothes for the season, I felt awful taking it, she noticed the look of angist I must have had on my face when they took off thier shoes and had a hole or two in a sock.....LOL....she stuffed a large bill in my coat when I was leaveing, I called her when I got home and told her it was too much, but that it was welcomed and appreciated, I also wrote her a nice thank you not from the kids.....we went to walmart that night and got some new underthings and three pairs of new jeans for the boy, one which is a black pair of jean...LOL...dd got some new outfits too....I just feel helpless, and wish I could pull some extra cash from the sky to help....dh doesn't say anything, but I know he misses my old paychecks from when we both worked, but we didn't have two kids then.....oh well...thanks for letting me get this off my chest....I am rambling now....

I've had those same fights at our house too! LOL DD wears her socks inside out cause the seams bother her. When ds was 4, he wouldn't wear red anymore! Don't worry, pretty soon your SONS will be spending more time in the morning doing his hair than your dd!!! LOL DS told me one morning that I needed to get him up earlier cause he just didn't have enough time to do his HAIR!!!! LOL

Renee..sorry you are so down in the dumps. Don't EVER feel guilty or that you are not contributing by being a SAHM..do you know how much it would cost to have someone do all the things that you are doing??? You ARE financially contributing to your family!!!!!!!!!!

KarlaB

What is it with mornings?? I also have a picky ds some days regarding his clothes and he isn't even 4!! Yikes! And, today youngest ds was having a fit when I put MY jeans on because he wanted to try to put them on himself! LOL!

Renee - ITA with what Ann said. I think it is harder being a SAHM than most people realize. Don't ever doubt how much you are contributing to your family. :) I know how stressful it is when it feels tight finacially, but the monetary sacrifices you are making are worth it. When I first started staying home we stopped our newspaper subscription and changed our cable tv to get just a few channels - that alone saved us over $25 a month! You may have done these already, but I will try to think of other little things we did to save $$. I know how tough it can be and how it feels like one can never get ahead, especially with unforeseen dr bills, etc. Hang in there and vent away - we all do!! :)

I know in my head that I am, but I feel bad that I can't pay a bill or two....I know that this two will fade away and spring will come, and less money will go out to the heating and the fresh air and flowing yards and children laughing with the puppy in our grass will make it all better soon, I guess I needed to get that off my chest...felt really down the last couple of days and all the mail would bring was more bills...LOL....thanks for listening to me ramble....I know life is wonderful, but sometimes its hard to see past your own stuff.....

The Good Lord came through and kept the sunshine and they were able to lay the carpet and paint the outside shutters!!! All look fantastic!

Renee...you didn't bring my post down!!!!! The Rodeo is all indoors at the Astrodome complex..so weather isn't a problem..which is good cause I was going to wear my "cowgirl duds" and need it to be a little cooler than it is today!! LOL We will probably eat there..they have tons of different places to pick from..all pretty much junk but some good barbecue too.

The rodeo sounds like a lot of fun... we went to one a few weeks ago... we had never been to one before and didn't quite know what to expect, but we had a lot of fun. I hope you guy's (did you take the kids?) have a great time.

So, what kind/color carpet did you decide to get? Although I love the carpet we picked out for my livingroom... if I had to do it all over again I'd go a little bit darker. It LOOKS beautiful but it's SO hard to keep clean. If I had my own way I'd probably block that room off completely and use it only for show. LOL

Renee... You are where you're suppose to be. While having money to pay all your bills is nice... being with your children while they are young and need you is a lot more important. I know how you feel and I know it's not easy... but hang in there. Feel good knowing you're doing the right thing. :)

KarlaB... how do you like all this darn snow we've been getting here in MN? Ugh!!!! I'm SO sick of it! I'm glad to hear it's suppose to start getting nicer and the snow is suppose to start melting... I hope their not teasing us. LOL

Hope everybody had a good day...

Sounds like everyone had an interesting day and/or morning!
And AnnW was right about ds fixing his hair! LOL My ds takes longer than my 2 girls put together! Kids, gotta love them!

Hope you have fun tonight Ann! And yeah on the carpet :)

I usually don't mind winter, but this snow is getting out of control! I guess it wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't so much ICE - it has cancelled too many of my plans lately! I quit watching weather reports after this wknd (LOL) so it's good to hear that it's supposed to be getting better! :) Let's keep our fingers crossed that they're not wrong again! LOL!

I really wanted to put in hardwoods but dh said no...anyway (LOL) it's really pretty. It's a sort of cafe au lait colored beige short pile textured carpet..it's very neutral but the texture gives it a nice richness...it looks really nice with all my cherrywood furniture.

It sounds nice, and I just LOVE Cherrywood! I'm glad you like it. What's next now, are you all done or are you still working on other things? I'm trying to convince dh to redo our bedroom, which would include taking the carpet out. We have some beautiful wood floors underneath and it seems a shame to keep them covered. It's been a while since we've done any major projects so I'm really itching to do something. I'm glad yours turned out so nice. :)

I was praying that we had hardwoods underneath but no such luck! LOL In our old house we had hardwoods everywhere, and it did make the floors awfully cold getting out of bed in the winter. What colors are you thinking of doing?

Tomorrow they are laying the tile in the entry, then put the baseboards up, plantation shutters will be in next week (I hope), wallpaper, faux paint entry (but we may not) furniture for study and window treatment for the dining room. We will stop for a while and then maybe in September or this time next year we are going to remodel the kitchen and redecorate the den. Then eventually we will recarpet the bedrooms and then redecorate ours.

You guys are so wonderful! Makes me feel like my kids are "normal" :) I had to laugh about the "jeans"/hair discussions. And I totally can relate to Karla. My 4 year old ds is very picky about clothes! He doesn't like to wear anything with buttons or zippers. Until very recently wouldn't wear his pants anywhere near his waist...always under the belly! He also pulls his socks up really high and tight...and then pushes them back down. Our oldest ds (7) did none of these things...and wears whatever I set out for him! It really stumps us, and we are treating it like a phase.

I think you are making the right choice by staying home. Think of the money you are saving on childcare and what you would be missing out on if you decided to go back to work. You get to enjoy your children's childhood.
AnnW
Your carpet sounds very pretty. I am glad that you like it, and I am glad that the rain held off long enough for them to lay it. Keep us updated on the rest.

PS
I have hardwood floors, and I would trade them for carpet anyday. I would much rather run the vaccum than sweep and mop anytime. LOL! As a matter of fact, most of my floors are covered with carpet. LOL!
