View Full Version : What's for dinner tonite??
We are sort of dumpster diving, and I am taking all the single breast of leftover chicken that I have frozen along with a couple of carcasas from roasted chicken and making chicken and rice soup! LOL Tonite and tomorrow are sort of busy nights (ds has his first orchestra concert tomorrow) so I am doing crockpot cooking.
What's on the stove at your house???
oh Ann...that sounds good.....we are crockpotting it here today too....I have chili simmering in the crock now....smells good already....thinking of baking some bread in the bread maker later....it cold and rainy here, we are actually expecting snow flurries later this evening....yikes...
wish ds good luck on his concert tommorrow.....
It's cold here too..it was only 50 this am and only going to 74!!!!!!!!! That's why we are having soup!!! ;)

You and I must be thinking a lot alike today Renee... I got up this morning and made a nice big pot of Chili too... and I've already got the bread in the bread maker. My house smells absolutely wonderful. Nothing like a big bowl of hot chili on a cold day!!! Yummmmm!

AnnW...l we have to make the meatless kind for dh....LOL...but I use 16 oz. kidney beans....two 15 oz. cans of chunked tomatoes, and my favorite a package of Chili mix from Mc Cormick....then I chop 1/2 green pepper and add...pre-cook an onion (dh likes then sauteed before they are added) and 2 tablespoons Garlic.....let it simmer on low all day long....when dh used to eat meat...well then I had a ball....and would add cooked hamburger or round steak cut into small pieces and cooked int eh sauteed onions....Yummy....sometimes we add mushrooms, but I don't care for how they actually look in the chili...LOL....
to get the dks to eat chili we use fritos on the bottom of the bowl, and now they love the scoops to dip into it...and dd loves to mix some cottage cheese in her chili so its not so HOT...temp and spicy I guess....LOL..
I would love some of your soup....homemade chicken is the best....we don't do meat soup, anymore...boo hoo....:\ but it sure sounds delicious....
Diane....too funny...hey great minds think alike...better start my bread machine....LOL... thanks for the reminder...

Okay, sit down for this one  Dh has football, so I am thinking something simple like pancakes for dks and I....does it sound better if I say I put food coloring in them and make fun shapes and letters? :D
(Very slow board this morning for me with lots of fatal message errors! :\)
I have a couple of Ribeyes and chicken breasts marinating in homemade terryaki sauce to be grilled later and a large spaghetti squash.
If anyone has any zuchinni left-cut it in half and then slice them in 1/2 in pieces. (they are flat slices). Marinate them in It. dressing for at least 5 hours and then grill them. I am so addicted to them and dd loves them.
Sounds like you guys have been busy this morning! We are having left overs I think. LOL I was going to BBQ hamburgers, but there is already 3 inches on snow on the ground and it's still snowing pretty hard. I'll probably cook the hamburgers tomorrow on my Foreman type grill since we need to eat early then to get ready for Suvivor. The week is going fast.

Hi all. I talked dh through how to put a roast in the slow cooker this am....so now it smells wonderful! I just threw some potatoes into the oven so in about an hour supper will be ready.
Cooking a big roast so dh and and kids can have leftovers as I am headed to the city tomorrow after school with a girlfriend and won't be back until Friday night.

LOL... Now that your dh knows how to put the roast in the slow cooker... he will no longer have any excuses for not putting the roast on for supper. LOL It's always smells so nice to come in from outside and smell supper cooking. :) Have fun with your friends... it sounds like a lot of fun!

I was lucky that I made a LOT of Chili as I ended up with company for supper. The neighbor's came over for a visit and made a big deal about how wonderful my Chili/bread smelled. Well... after such of a nice compliment I couldn't NOT ask them to stay. LOL We had a lot of fun and had more then enough... with even a little bit of extra for lunch tomorrow.
