View Full Version : just plain clutter...anyone else have it?
I was just walking through my house to the bathroom, and went through my empty room....which I may say isn't empty ...its the Clutter room....everything from coats to shoes to kites....everything that we don't know where to put it goes in there....its like a huge closet...but we don't shut the door....LOL....how can I just clean this out...its awful....I took all the paper clutters last week out of my house and filed what was needed to keep, and shredded what was uncecessary....what should I do with this stuff..:\ someone tell me I am not alone....I hate that room...everything else in this house is starting to shape up....and then there is that room...I am not allowed to put anything into the garage because dh has his own hands full with that problem...LOL....argh...what are you doing with clutter?
Our guest room used to be the junk room since we only had guests about once a year, but man, every Christmas we had to clean it out! LOL Since we turned it into the playroom, it has forced me to either get rid of stuff or put things up.

You are not alone. I had a huge room like that at our other house ~ I actually dreaded going in there to pack it all up, but I ended up throwing a lot. Now that we moved I (purposely) don't have a room like that and if needed I throw stuff in the already cluttered garage. :D It actually drives me nuts though because there is just some stuff I still don't know where to put. :tearhair:
Go thru the room and put 4 boxes in front of you...I saw something like this on Oprah or somewhere once...let's see if I can remember the different sorting piles (someone feel free to jump in and help/correct me if I am wrong :))...1 for garbage, 1 for stuff you want to save and need to find a new spot for, 1 for stuff you're unsure of (and then if you don't use it in 3(?) months toss it), and 1 for stuff you'll give to Good Will. Good luck and don't try to do it all at once or you can be overwhelmed and quit. :)
thanks for the ideas....I hate that room...and whats sad is it will be my laundry room eventually (in years to come) its a great room has a coat rack built in....nice shelf up above that....I will but my washer and dryer in there, have a laundry shoot from our room coming into there...but now...its a pig stye....dh told me to get a black garbage bag....but you know if I toss something he will be looking for it in a couple weeks....LOL...I like the box ideas...thanks
I've been feeling like my whole HOUSE is a clutter space. I guess because the colder weather is setting in. Our back yard is really large, but our house is really small, so once we close the doors it feels like we're all crammed in. I've been buying shelf and storage units left and right. Coat racks, hat hangers...anything to just make it feel more organized.

Our guest room used to be just that, a guest room. Now though it just catches everything. Stationary bike dh doesn't use, the old console TV, all the art work and pictures that were in the living room before we took them down to paint. I was just saying to dh yesterday, I wanted that room cleaned out. Expecially since my dad had left me a beautiful old antique chair that I want to put in there, but right now have no where to put it.

When dd #1 moved out her room turned into the clutter/storage room. EVERYTHING I didn't know what to do with went in there. Thank GOD it had a door and it was always closed... of course until I needed to open it up to put more "stuff' in it. LOL When my dh was reunited with his bio mom and they decided to come for a visit... we needed a room for them to sleep in and that was the only room. Ugh!!! First we had a garage sale... then we hauled the rest of the stuff down to the Salvation Army. That room is now clutter free and has been ever since. I HAVE no good storage area's in my house because it's all useable space. I'm glad to hear that there are other's who have the same problem as me and I'm not the only one. :)
