View Full Version : Wednesday and everything is ok!
Has its midweek and Im still alive to talk about it! LOL Things have calmed down considerably and now Im in this peaceful state of mind. I don't think anyone can get to me or get me riled up. Im in that Christain state of mind of of turn the other cheek and love your enemies. Geez, I've been looking for this for what seems like forever and it comes to me in the middle of chaos. Who knew??? LOL
Question for everyone.... What are your property and school taxes like a year? The house we want to buy in NY, has taxes of $6,000.00 a year. I find this incredibly high, but they do have an excellent school system and was voted safest place to live in the country by Forbes magazine. So I guess I would paying for a private school and police protection if I were to live in lower tax area.

You're moving again??
You will laugh when you hear our property taxes $1000
Hooray Amy!!!! I am SO happy for you!!! :) :) :)
I think our taxes are around $5,000 per year.
we live in Central NY, and our property tax is around 800.00 a year....where are you thinking of moving?
Beth C-yep, we move again in May 2002. Dh will finally be retired at the tender old age of 39! LOL We definitely want to move back East. I would prefer the New England coast, but NY is just as pretty and much closer to family without being too close. :)
RCT-We are seriously considering Amherst, NY. It is a suburb of Buffalo. It has a state-of-the-art public school system and it has close proximity to A LOT of cool things (Canada, sports teams, buffalo wings:),Great Lakes etc). It would be the perfect place, but the taxes shocked me. Thats $500.00 a month for the rest of our lives. UGH!
Annw-thanks for the support! I really like having this kind of peace back in my life. I hope it is here to stay! LOL
Hi Amy! Wow on moving again, but this will be the last one, right? As for taxes, I really don't know but I know they are nowhere near that high! Of course each state funds schools and such differently, too.
Glad to hear your in a calm state :)
I've had a slug day..got up feeling dizzy and chilled so spent the morning in bed. In fact, it's sounding good now...being on the computer very much aggravtes the dizziness...
Have a great day all!! I'll try to come back later :)

Our school taxes are comparable to Ann's, but TX has no state income tax.

Wranglers or Levis??
If you are a 4H cowboy it's wranglers, if you are a working cowboy it's levis.
What in the heck is the difference?
Levis here in Central NY but I have seen Wrangler too...LOL which are you partial too....

between the jeans or cowboys??? LOL
I know the difference between the jeans!! LOL Actually, what are they and whats the difference between a 4H and working cowboy?
Renee-I never saw Wranglers on someone until we moved to Colorado the first time. They wore them so tight I used to call them grape smugglers. (you may have to think about that one awhile before you get what I mean, LOL)
We live in a Minneapolis suburb and our property taxes run around 4500. They were a lot lower last year and then we passed the largest school bond the state of Minnesota has ever seen last fall and our taxes went up. Hopefully they will put the money to good use.

4H cowboys are the kids in school in the 4H clubs...working cowboys are the guys working the ranches.
naughty girl!!!!! ;)
The cowboys here wear Wranglers. Hey, who would have thought Texas was cooler than Colorado! LOL

Our taxes here are about $4500/year. Some areas higher...some areas lower. (I'm in Wisconsin.) It's exciting to know that your dh will be able to retire...what will he do? Does he just want to take time to "veg" out? Is he the kind of guy who will go nuts just sitting around??? I'm sure the military is a different kind of lifestyle. What kind of job does he do??? I know that my dh would be bored silly if he was home all day. He'd have to keep busy, or he'd drive me crazy :).
I have absolutely no idea what he wants to do! He keeps changing his mind. He definitely does not want anything to do with weapons once he retires. He is a weapons sargent and can basically operate and dismantle any weapon known to man. He would go nuts if he never worked again. He can barely take a 4 day weekend! LOL
If we got my Grandma's house in NY, than he would like to spend time fixing it up. It is a 3000sq foot house with 10 acres and a HUGE barn. It would take him about a year to get it back in shape. With his military pay, than we only have to both work part-time. :) We both want to travel too.
Oh yeah, he retires in 11 months!
