I was complaining to dh today after church how I need a bigger kitchen and laundry room and how the kids have such a mess in their rooms. He casually mentioned that maybe we need to move the washer and dryer in the basement, make another bedroom for the girls down there and move things all around. We were just tossing the idea around. The next thing we know all 5 kids are busily cleaning things up, moving stuff to the basement, etc. I'm afraid to go see what it REALLY looks like! IF they seriously get this all arranged I think it will work a lot better but I'm afraid they are just starting a mess they won't finish.

Most surprisingly, however, they've been working together without fighting all morning!

How often do you rearrange?

Amazing isn't it Linda, how they can all pull together when it's something they want. I'm not much for rearranging. I tend to get really comfortable with things as they are, and doing things a different way throws me off. Not to mention that I can never find anything if it's in a new place. The girls have been nagging me to let them fix up the basement for a place to hang out with their friends. (Think cold, damp, cobwebbed, and full of 'stuff'--Addams Family-ish!) I said I'd think about it. Next thing I knew, they had sorted, and reorganized the mess, thrown away who knows what (hey, if I don't miss it, I probably didn't need it!) and made a cold damp hang out space with an old piece of carpet, some old chairs, and the old toy box. If they want to use it, okay by me. But maybe I could at least get a dehumidifier and make it a bit more comfortable. And the benefit of loud, 'not to my taste' music being absorbed by the basement walls instead of my ears would be worth it. Hmmm.....

I love rearranging, but unfortunately, there is really not many ways to rearrange around here, so it will be kept to a minimum.

I use to rearrange ALL THE TIME... like every two weeks or so. LOL I get SO sick of looking at my furniture being in the same place all the time. One year I even moved the Christmas tree from one side of the room to the other. LOL Well... it's almost been a year since I last changed it around and last week I FINALLY decided to move the livingroom furniture around. It loos SO nice and clean and because it's new and different... everyone seems to keep it more picked up than usual. I only wish I could make the room bigger... then I could REALLY do some major rearranging. LOL

Good luck with all of your rearranging. I hope it turns out the way you hope it does and the kids will have more room to do whatever it is they need to do. LOL

I like to rearrange...dh doesn't. So we compromise. He helps out when I ask him...and in return, I don't ask that often! LOL We just rearranged our living room/great room around, and I love it! Now if only I could rearrange myself some new furniture!;)

Well we got the girls' beds down stairs. I even shampooed the carpet in their old room so ds #3 could sleep in there. Now, just to get off here and start putting the rest of the house back together. I have so much to do I don't know where to start! Hope to get most of the rearranging done so when dh gets home he can move the kids' computer and the other heavy stuff into our office.

Dh loves to rearrange. I came home from work a few weeks ago when he had the day off and he'd rearranged the living room! LOL

I love to rearrange. Dh doesn't though. I would be happy to move the furniture in the living room around more often, but the t.v and stand are way to heavy for me to move. We used to switch bedrooms a lot when we were kids. And my mom would move furniture in the living room and den around all the time. We always said, if we can't move this month, at least we can move the furniture. lol

ROFLMAO...too funny, I love to rearrange too....every where we have ever lived it was fun and easy....but this old house has one outlet in each room so I am very limited on where certain things can go...like the puter and television...LOL...plus the registars are on the floor so the beds have to kinda stay put....this house get the kitchen table turned almost weekly for this way to that...LOL..its rectangular so...you get the picture...

Linda it sounds wonderful....tell us how it comes out...Kids not fighting...what did you feed them????

I rearrange when we move to another house! Until this house that was an average of once a year. Since buying this house rearranging hase only happened when we have gotten a new piece of furnature or gotten rid of something. Even then I only rearrange the minimum.

I am curious as to how it all turned out too. Do the girls like it?
And the main thing, do you like it?

I used to be the same way before we moved. Dh would come home and look at me like I was losing it! :D I'm sure it'll start happening again, but so far I have been "content" here. LOL!

Linda/NE - Good luck with the rearranging! Sounds fun! I love change...when it's by my choice!

Well we are still in the process of putting the house back together. The girls LOVE sleeping in the basement. Youngest Ds still cries at bedtime because he wants his sisters upstairs.:(

The kids don't have school on Friday so we've warned them that if they don't want to spend the whole day cleaning they need to get the rest of their things arranged.

As for my office (ds #3's old room) dh still needs to bring up my sewing machine and move some of the heavier furniture in there that I can't move myself. I think we'll move both the kids' computer and the china hutch in there so I'll have more room in my kitchen for the table.

Renee, if I knew what I fed the kids to get them to work together with out fighting, believe me we'd be having it at every meal!! :)

Now I just need to stay home long enough to get things put away and catch up on the laundry.
