I went to my ds's school this morning for my first parent/teacher conference. It is so funny, I had this feeling in my gut kind of like when you get called to the principals office!! lol It went great and my ds is doing awesome....I am so proud. I know, he is just in kindergarten!! lol I gave his teacher a tupperware container full of chocolate to get her through the day! They have to work from 8:30am to 8pm for 2 days. Yikes! Teachers are awesome!!!!!!!! :yippee:

:yippee: Yeah for your ds....and you!! :yippee: How fun to have your first conference!! And, it's great that you appreciate teachers and all they do!! Sometimes parents tend to contact/blame them when their dks are struggling/failing, so it's nice for them to know when they are doing a good job, too!! :)
btw - How are you feeling?? :tinysmile
I am glad he is doing so well! Aren't the conferences fun? And LOL about feeling like you are in the principal's office, I get that all the time and I am OLDER than the principal and their teachers!!! LOL
I have dd's on Thursday. We got her report card and she made Honor Roll!!! She has really been working hard!!!

Glad it went well, angie. Would you like to be one of my students' parent? Or could you at least write to them with suggestions about how to show teacher appreciation? LOL
AnnW- Congratulations to your dd. That's great news!!

AnnW - congrats to your daughter! That is wonderful!!
Cathy/Karla - I just think that teachers are incredible. Ds is always taking her some kind of treat. He even takes extra for "her little boy." (her son)
Did you all see Oprah when she had the Disney teachers of the year on. I was just bawling at how wonderful they are. Giving their everything for "our" kids. Wow, what a calling.

Well CONGRATULATIONS to all of you who's kids are doing so well in school. It's so nice that you appreciate their teacher's so much and I'm sure that the teacher's really appreciate havig students who's parents really care about what/how their children are doing in the classroom. Some parents don't and that's so sad. My dd no longer has conferances (high school) and I really miss them because I won't forget the proud feeling we always had walking out of the school after hearing such good/wonderful things about our kids... and it was also a way to be able to meet their teachers. You should all be very proud of yourselves for doing such of a good job raising such good/wonderful children and also... proud of your children for doing so well. :)
Diane...

I'm glad your conference went well. I've never actually "been" to a conference...dk's go to my school, so I've either been their teacher, or I eat lunch with their teachers everyday! LOL I do MANY conferences, though. I teach Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten, and it is soooo cute to see "new" parents coming for conferences. They seem very nervous, and serious. I always try to keep things light. I am the least intimidating person I think you'd ever meet! Certainly not one to be nervous to meet with. I also think that conferences should not hold any surprises. If there is a problem, I certainly contact the parent as the situation arises. I never wait for a conference. Most of the parents come to conferences...and our 1st quarter conferences are mandatory. I see most of my students' parents daily, anyway.
Bringing chocolates for the teacher....:* ! That was a nice touch!:D
