Hi,
Well it was a fun Halloween Day, until my oldest sons school called and asked me to come nad get him, since he was sleeping in the health room.
He has been complaing of a sore throat lately at least for over a week and he has been very tired.
So I made him a Dr.s appointment and we went in.
The doc checked him out and then sent him for blood tests:(
(I think I was more upset than he was) he did cry of course since it was his first one ever.
Anyway, they are testing him for Mono.
Great thats all I need.
Has anyone ever had to deal with any of their children having mono? How did they pick it up? And how did it take for them to get over it?
He goes back to the Dr. Tomorrow morning so he is out of school at least for this week.
I knew he wasn't feeling well since he didn't even want to go out trick or treating last night.
So his younger brother went out and I went with him while Dh stayed home and looked after the oldest.
We got lots of extra for him since all the neighbors know him.
So anyway just thought I would write to see if anyone has had this experience with their Children.
Talk to you all soon.

I had in college and my next door neighbor's dd got it in 8th grade. Generally, despite being called the "kissing disease" usually you get it if you are run down. It makes you incredibly tired, you have swollen glands, the major risk is an enlarged spleen if left untreated. Generally, the treatment is antibiotics and bed rest.
Good luck. hope you son feels better.

One of my friends ds had mono. Not so great news....He was tired and out of school for a long time. It took almost a year for him to get back into shape and have energy again for sports. I hope your ds doesn't have it and if he does that he heals quickly!

Hello,
Just thought I would let everyone know that we went back to the Dr. on Friday.
My Ds's white blood cell count was really high but thank god,
it isn;t mono.
Just a bad case of tonsilitis, so we just have to keep up with the antibiotics for 10 days.
Thanks for all your inputs and knowledge.

Take Care and God Bless
