View Full Version : Christmas craft ideas wanted
Does anybody have a cute, simple and cheap craft idea for something that my dks can make for their teachers (with or without help from me) for Christmas? We usually make homemade soap but was hoping for something different this year. Or maybe we will make the soap if someone has a cute container idea. :)

Hi Jen,
We just made lovely bath salts. We used epsom salts, a bit of food colouring, and some scented oil. I had bought some antique glass bottles at a flea market, so we have put them in those, and the girls will decorate tags I bought at our craft store. They look really pretty, and it is a very easy thing to make.
Kathy, what type of scented oils do you use, and where can you purchase that...I love this idea...do you think I could use, small Mason jars...and maybe decorate with ribbon...we are looking for easy Christmas girfts for teachers....and this sounds great...thanks....

There was another post re: jar mixes. I found a really great brownie jar mix that even included tags at: http://holidayorganizer.com/gifts/giftsjar/
It even has recipes for bath salts, other sweet treats, and cornbread and soup mix.
I am making the bath salts for friends gifts (only cost about $1.50 each to make.) Sand art brownies cost approx. $3.00 each to make. The confetti bean soup is approx. $2. each.
I am making baskets for the couples in my family using the confetti bean soup mix, texas cornbread and sand art brownies and a few other items.

My kids and I have made the Borax crystal ornaments and they turn out great!! If you've got a star shaped cookie cutter you can wrap the pipe cleaner around that to get a star shape, or coil it around a pencil.
Thanks for the ideas. The snow flakes look pretty.
Kathy, did you use regular food coloring (like for food) or was it a craft kind? What kind of scented oils? Do you buy them at a craft store?
