They got here around 10:30 this am, and brought out some pieces of the tile and my heart just sank!!! It didn't look anything like I remembered and it didn't look like it was going to work with the rest of the stuff! This tile was the only one that we only had a small sample of, and dh wanted to order a bigger piece so we could see it better and I talked him out of it! Well, they started laying it and it is GORGEOUS!!!!! It really looks great in the entry and the grout is almost the same color as the walls in the dining room! sighing a big sigh of relief here!!! LOL

I was feeling pretty badly for myself too!! LOL
The tile or the whole project? The tile will be grouted tomorrow (meanwhile we are trapped either on the bedroom/potty side of the house or the den/food side! LOL) The rest of the stuff should be finished in a couple of weeks..really just waiting on the plantation shutters to come in and then they can wallpaper the study. Still need to order some furniture and I am not sure how long that will take.

I'm glad the tile worked out after all... I know that sinking feeling you feel when you first open something and it doesn't quite look the way you remembered... Ugh!!! What a relief it is when you see it does, especially when it was you who talked dh out of ordering a bigger piece for a sample... LOL I definitely would have heard about it. :)

Reading all your posts about remodeling is really getting me in the mood to get going on mine... but dh wants to wait a while yet. Instead, were having a new furnace/air conditioner/hot water heater installed Monday and I'm NOT looking forward to it at all. I hate the thought of all these guy's trapsing through my house while I'm trying to do day care. I'll be happy when their all done with it though. Remodeling is definitely a lot funner! :) Good luck on the rest of your stuff... it sounds like it's all going to turn out gorgeous!

DianeP - I know what you mean about having people go through your house for repairs/appliance installations and I only have my own two little ones here. We had a guy here three times last week for our dryer and another guy here to fix our laundry drain. Ugh! It's much different when they are here to remodel! :) Ann's posts have given me the itch, too, to do some (little) projects. I painted one of our bathrooms this week and have been reorganizing like crazy. We want to move this spring and I am *trying* to do some of this in little steps so it's not so overwhelming! Sad to think just when I get the house all done we'll leave it for someone else. Makes no sense, does it? :\

AnnW- You'll have to post pics when you guys are all done!! :)

You are definately going to have to post pictures Ann! It sounds great and is making my simulated wood wall panelling and gold shag carpet look even more pathetic that it is! LOL Time to update the trailer part of our house....now if only I could win the lottery! LOL

I remember when we first purchased this house we had two bedrooms that had pure white shag carpeting and another room with, can you believe... yellow and brite orange shag... that was REALLY bad and it was the first to get taken out and thrown away. We kept the white ones for a few years and had to go out and buy a "rake" so we could rake it, otherwise they didn't look good. LOL I can't believe their bringing them back! ugh...

We are staying in town, but just want a newer house. (Dh really wants a double garage!) I like our house and our neighbors, but if we stayed here we'd have to invest a lot to make the changes we want and our realtor said it wouldn't pay in the long run if we decided to sell later. Looking forward to seeing pics of your final project down the road. We don't even have a digital camera - I would be clueless as to how to figure that out! LOL!

ROFLMBO!! This was too funny! :) We have some simulated wood wall panelling (like Darlene) upstairs - can you come up with a new name for that for?? ;) Maybe then it wouldn't bug me so much!

edited to add: Somehow I messed up the quote on this one?

I am so glad that your tile came in, and that it turned out okay. I hope that everything else works out for you too. Have a good day. :)
