Have any of you homeschoolers read the book Dumbing Us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling by John Taylor Gatto? Someone recommended it to me and I was wondering if anyone here has read it and what you thought about it.

What other "must read" books do you recommend?

Thanks!

I read it a while ago. I recommend anything by Gatto. He has very good arguments for homeschooling.

I can't think of any right now. I'll get back to you on it.

Thank you, Sasha! Going to see if the library has it tomorrow.

I read "Homeschooling for Excellence" and thought it was great! Also read "The Unofficial Guide to Homeschooling" by Kathy Ishizuka. Both were very good! "The Hurried Child" by David Elkind(sp.?) is also great!
