View Full Version : I'm at it again....cleaning bug has bit me
went through our closet yesterday, then some of the kids clothing...now I am doing more upstairs closets...I have a pile of hand me downs for my great niece who is a year younger than my dd and a pile of hand me downs for my nephew and his kids....Two Giant Black trash sacks full for good will and a box for dd's pre-K class....yikes...I still have more to get threw...dh is getting nervous that we won't have anything when I am done...LOL.....
I can't believe we hang on to everything...I had some sweaters from when I met dh in 1988.....(I got rid of them) of course I couldn't wear them...LOL...dh had a pair of shoes from 1988 too....yuck...trashed those....
please tell me I am not the only one who keeps too much stuff from the past and that I am not the only one who finally goes throgh it and tossed it out? thanks....I just can't believe I have so much GARBAGE...or unused stuff...it just takes up space that I don't have....

RCT - Are you doing Flylady?? I still don't do the 27 fling boogies. I am getting better with the IN-Laws coming.
I have 2 old comforters and 1 bag of clothes in the car now!!
It is my craft area that will be hard to the fling too!!
Good for you giving up your old stuff!! IT does make me feel better!!

As many times as I've cleaned things out you'd think I'd learn to get rid of stuff when were all done with it but I continue to hang on to everything thinking that we'll still use it at another time... NOT!!! I've got to get my butt in gear and start going through a few drawers too... I'm sure I've got just TONS of stuff pack and get rid of. I don't think I have too many OLD OLD things laying around anymore... but I guess that depends upon what you call old. :)

I hang onto stuff, too. I go in spurts of throwing, but I still tend to hang onto too much ~ for sentimental reasons usually. I need to toughen up and just start tossing more! LOL!

Renee, I wore a pair of shoes on Sunday, that I bought in 1981. They haven't been worn much, and they definitely still fit. Two people commented how much they liked them. I laughed. Some of the old things I've thrown out I have to re-buy for my dds .......cause they're back "in" again! Who knew I was so fashion forward??? LOL

I see kids wearing a lot of the same things that we use to wear when I was a teen. Of course... I'd never get away with wearing that stuff today (as if I could fit into it anyway) but it's fun to see how some things really haven't changed that much. :) The other day I even saw a woman with her hair all ratted up... 8o Sure brought back a few memories for me. LOL
