View Full Version : School Pictures ~ Vent and questions
well, living with a professional Photographer can sometimes be a pain...I got both dd and ds's school photos back last week and was furious....I am not a perfectionist, but I couldn't believe the quality of these photos...I immediately called the studio who shot them....and well..my kids are both being re shot today...but I am still worried about how these are going to turn out...
the kids looked fine...but ds had his hair on end...like he used a static comb....eewwh...and the photograhpers shadow was in the backgroud.....dd was wearing a long sleeved shirt the last time, and no one helped her pull the sleeves down...she also had a huge shadow in the background...anyway...ds had his done this morning..and dd will have hers done this afternoon...I am just nervous about it...we are using these as christmas gifts for the grandparents...argh...just a little vent...
did you all have yours done yet...did you like them...everyone else Satisfied.?
 ?(

LOL... NEVER count on these pictures being "good". These are school pictures and they really aren't that picky about how they turn out. What's always gotten to me is that BEFORE the kids get their pictures taken... they hand them a little black comb so they can comb their hair. (so it looks nice... yeahhhh) :biglaugh: Well........ that's not always a good idea to give a 5 year old a comb. LOL Their hair "might' look better BEFORE they get the comb in it. Until my children got old enough to do a good job combing their own hair and making sure everything else looked good enough, they NEVER had what I would call a "great" picture. This year my youngest brought home this fantastic picture... but to her it wasn't good enough and she wanted a retake. I told/warned her that she better hope that her retake turns out at least just as good as the first one did. She thought twice about it and kept them. LOL
Hope their retakes turn out better. 8o

LOL...funny thing is that the kids looked great, I just couldn't see shelling out good money for a lousy techincal job....
anyway ds had his retake this morning...but the school called me and told me that dd's Pre-K wasn't having retakes today and where did I get the idea that they were...I told them I had talked with the Photography studio...well..now the shcool is mad at the studio..but will take care of getting a re take day...not my problem...oh well...Poor dd had to get all dolled up for nothing...

Thanks for reminding me - I have to call the studio that took ds #2's picture and complain because his RETAKE was way off center. Ds #1's didn't get any football pictures (still not sure what happened there) and I've been waiting weeks for ds #3's preschool pictures.

Saw our proofs about 3 weeks ago...they were okay. Placed an order and we are still waiting. We better get them before the holidays.

I don't get to hyped up about school pictures. We go to Walmart every summer and get a group picture of the kids, a family picture of all of us (actually this year was the first time we did that),and individuals of each one. It cost like $100 which wasn't too bad considering there were 5 kids. Plus you can see the picture right after it's taken and decide if you want to keep it or try again.
When school pictures come around we order the smallest package they offer ($6) so the kids can get the class composite of all their classmates.

I don't even bother with school pictures anymore. They have become way too expensive.
I often do like Linda and get the kids done at Wal-Mart. This year though we had a photographer come out to our place and take pictures in our yard. They turned out great! I am getting package deals made up from the negatives of those.

I always get the school pictures (because they are usually pretty good)...Sears and Walmart have good pictures too.
