Anybody have a good and easy recipe for something different to do with roast.

I usually throw mine in the crock pot and sprinkle onion soup mix over it and then add some water and onion. About an hour before it's done I throw in baby carrots and potatoes. Simple and yummy!!

Also in the crock pot...onion soup mix in the bottom, then roast. Smear a can of jellied cranberries over the top. Makes a delicious roast, pork or beef.

Thank you they both sound good. I am going to make one in the crockpot today. Thanks

Since you have already cooked the roast, this might not be any help, but I usually use the McCormicks seasoning packet for roast. You can cook it in the oven, and it comes out pretty good.

Quebec Meat pie (tourtiere du lac st jean)

1 roast beef (cooked and chopped in tiny pieces)
1 pork roast (cooked and chopped in tiny pieces)
2 onions
4 celery stalks
Lots and lots of pepper
Potatoes ( so if it's 1lb beef, 1 lb pork = 2 lbs potatoes), uncooked
Water
Bovril gravy mix
Foil pans
Prepared pie dough

Make sure to have the same amounts of cut meat. So if it's 2 cups of beef, then it will have to be 2 cups of pork also. Take a juice jug, put lots of bovril and fill with water. Mix meats, chopped onions, celery, and pepper together. In bottom of pan, put layer of rolled out pie dough. Put meat mixture and pour bovril gravy/juice to cover meat mixture. Put another rolled out pie dough on top. Poke holes on the top. Bake at 400F for the first two hours. Then at 250F for 3 hours. Always make sure that the gravy is covering meat. If not, then just add some.

For the last two hours of cooking, do not add gravy/juice.

Freezes well. Cook frozen for 6 hours. Last two hours do not add gravy.

I am sorry I am not precise with this recipe but my step mother just told me this recipe from her head and didn't know the quantities. It's really good.

Enjoy!

Put your roast in a crock pot and cover with a jar of "hot stuff". Okay, I can't remember what it's called, lol! It's basically jalapeno peppers but it doesn't taste that nuclear when you're done! Put the peppers in, juice and all, add water to cover. When it's done shred the beef. It's great on Italian rolls with sauteed onions and provalone or Monterey jack cheese. It's also very good in burritos.

You simply MUST find out what this "hot stuff" is..the recipe sounds great! Are you just talking about a picante sauce?

Yikes! I've got an email off to my sister (her recipe) but she won't be back to work till Monday. I think the brand was Arnold's. It's in with the pickles. For some reason I remember the peppers being cut into rings. Maybe they were banana peppers instead of jalapenos.... not sure. Maybe it was the hot cauliflower mix???? But no, it's not a picante sauce. It's in stuff that looks like pickle juice. I would assume that you could get the same taste with just jalapenos and the juice in the jar. We can't get the same thing she uses where I live, that's why I'm so vague, lol! So hopefully on Monday she'll remember what I'm talking about and give me the brand name and all.

Okay, directly from the horse's mouth... it's one jar of peperocini or banana peppers, juice and all added to a roast in the crock pot. Cook for 8 hours, shred and serve on Italian rolls with provalone or Monterey jack cheese, green peppers, sauteed onions, or in burritos.

Roast beef a la spare rib sauce

1 roast beef
1 medium onion
Spare rib sauce
Water

Put roast in a big pot with chopped onion. Pour water over roast. Make sure water is covering the roast beef. Cook roast on high for an hour and a half. (depending on the size of roast beef). Once roast is cooked, take it out of broth and cut up in small bite size strips. Only leave just less than half of the broth in your pot. Put the remainder in a bowl or different pot just in case you want to add more. Stir Spare rib sauce in your pot. Add the cut meat to it. Then bring to a boil and let simmer about 25 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes.. Pour gravy on all....

Enjoy!

How many of you brown your roast first before you bake it??

These recipes sound delicious. To bad we are having meatloaf tonight.

I usually brown mine before I put in in the crockpot.
