I used to bring the boys their Book It pizzas to school for them for lunch. That way we didn't end up having to spend a bunch of extra money feeding the whole family at Pizza Hut just to get the free personal pan pizzas. Also, I always felt guilty bringing McDonalds or something to school for them when most of the other kids were eating the yummy cafeteria food, but since everyone had an oportunity to earn the Book It pizzas, I didn't feel guilty bringing those to them.

:yippee: Congratulations!!! Isn't that SUCH of a good feeling? You should be proud of him! All of my dd's loved to ready... IMHO you can never have too many books. :)
Diane...
I agree about reading and have a lot of books....since both my parents were teachers I grew up loving books...both kids have tons....but I also recieved a bunch from a friend recently.....;) I am using them as Under the tree gifts....
Donna...love your pizza at school idea....we tend to go to Pizza hut as a family once a month...I have the salad bar and dh and dd end up spliting a pizza and ds gets his individual....both kids look forward to going out to dinner...funny but since its such a drive for us...40 minutes....its a nice treat....

I just recently gave my dh's cousin a big bag of books for her dd... who also LOVES books. She was THRILLED with them too. My girls had so many books (each belonged to a book club) when they were younger I could hardly find anyplace to put them... :) and I still have tons left.

Congratulations to your son...that's great.
I love when I see my two sons (6 and 9) lying in their beds reading in the mornings. It gives me pleasure to see that they enjoy books.
That's one thing that I can't say no to ....buying books :)

How exciting!!!! Watching reading "click" with kids is probably one of the most fun aspects of my job as a Kdg. teacher! I love seeing all of those little lightbulbs going off!!!! I also think 1st grade is an incredible year...they pick up reading so much faster!!! Their reading vocabulary increases at an awesome rate. Love it!!!! We own hundreds of books....not counting what I own at school (many many MANY!). Both my dh and I love to read, so our kids both enjoy it.
