They enacted the thing we dreaded the most- a Stop Loss on all Special Forces and helicopter pilots. Lucky me that dh falls within the ONLY two sections of the Army that they are preventing from moving or retiring.

At first we thought dh could "terminate" from Special forces and join the regular Army until he retires, but now it looks as if they are going to try and force them to stay in an extra year even if he does terminate. There is a lot of gray matter and not sure which way the wind is going to blow this. Keep you fingers crossed and I'll keep you posted.

Well, double ducking grrr!!!!
How come the Rangers out of Fort Benning got to come home today? Couldn't they just stay over there and leave your dh's unit alone????

That really sucks! Hopefully things will clear up. DH was in an AF Stop Loss career field when he was schedualed to get out. Luckily things scaled back (Gulf war) and he was able to still get out as origionally planned. He went through months of not knowing. Had you made concrete plans yet?

Thanks all!

We still don't know. He is going to terminate Special Forces tomorrow and see where the wind carries us. Thats all we can really do without going crazy. LOL

If this is going to happen now and he has to go back to the regular Army, than this is a good time because his electrician work is slowing down until next year. I'll keep everyone udated.

So, he'll be in the regular Army until he retires in January? Or might they keep him longer?

I don't really understand how things work, but I hope it works out the way you're hoping it does!

((((AMY)))) I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope everything works out for you. I don't really understand all this military stuff either.

Were you in the military at all ever?

Best of luck, you're in my prayers!!

I've been thinking about you and your family a lot lately. What a position it be in! It really makes me realize the kinds of sacrifices armed services families make for the the rest of us.
