What are your favorite family movies?

We love Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Lion King, George of the Jungle, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Wizard of Oz and My Dog Skip. We're also into Wallace and Gromit.

We like most Disney movies, but haven't seen The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas or The Emperor's New Groove. Are any of these "must see" movies?

one of our local theaters has a family season pass where you pay 7$ to see 7 movies and up to two parents can go with for free. This weekends movie was MVP Most Valuable Primate. I thought it was cute, the kids loved it and many people clapped at the end. Of course that may be because last weeks movie was Digimon. Now that movie was mind numbing! The week prior was The Little Vampire. I thought that one was cute as well. Chicken Run was the first week. We've rented that one as well and the kids watched it a couple of times.

If you liked George of the Jungle how about Dudley Do-Right? It has Brendan Frazier and was very reminiscent of George of the Jungle.

I'd classify The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas as average Disney movies. our favorites are Toy Story 2, Mulan, Toy Story and some others I'm sure. Both kids watch all 7 of the Land Before Time movies repeatedly. Disney's Dinosaur is cute.

Ds likes most Disney movies, but especially likes both Toy Story movies, Land Before Time, Lion King, and A Bug's Life. Of course they all go in spurts where we watch the same one 8 million times until he finally gets sick of it! ;) We also like Charlotte's Web. We got Pocahontas at the library once and he was competely bored with it, but it may have been his age at the time? He did like Beauty and the Beast. We haven't seen The Emperor's New Groove and we watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but it was never one of ds's favorites. Is George of the Jungle a "must see"?

That's neat about the family pass...great idea!

We actually rented Dudley Do-Right and ds wasn't at all interested and we only made it half-way through it. Maybe we'll try it again. And we'll definitely check out Mulan!

Thanks, Lynda!

Thanks for the suggestions! We'll give Pocahontas a miss and we'll check out Beauty and the Beast.

It's hard to predict what ds will like...I thought he'd LOVE Dinosaur and Tarzan and he was bored during Dinosaur and he thought Tarzan was ok. And he absolutely LOVES Bambi. I thought that the animation wouldn't be as interesting to him because it's so flat compared to the newer Disney movies, but he loves it.

George of the Jungle is good...lots of slapstick-type violence (George is always swinging into trees and tripping and falling, etc.). It is rated PG, but the only part that seemed rough to me was when the father calls his wife a pain in the ass (she is one, incidentally, but still... ;)).

MY favorites are Tarzan and Mulan! My kids go in spurts where they really don't watch movies for the longest time and then seem to watch the same ones over and over.

My sister wants to get the Dinosaur movie for ds for his birthday. We should maybe see it first to see if it's worth it for her to buy. My ds also loves Bambi and goes in spurts with watching it nonstop! :)

My boys love both of the Toy Story movies...as well as Veggie Tales, Magic School Bus, and Pokemon videos. I find that they do best with shorter videos. Some of those Disney Movies are too long for my 4 yr. old. BTW...Emporer's New Groove was cute! You'd like it.

We'll have to watch Emperor's New Groove -I am tired of the same ol' thing here! :)

Charlotte's Web is a hit at our house as is The Sound of Music. We have a lot of Disney movies too, but I don't think any of them are real hits that the girls couldn't live without. One of our daughters collects whales and dolphins so the Free Willy movies are favorites along with Flipper!

BTW, had to watch Pure Country the other night again. We also like Patch Adams, I would recommend that movie to anyone who has worked in a nursing home or similar medical field. It really makes a person think and it is so true of what people are going through!

Movie nights come twice a month at our house. DS picks one week and dd the next time.
Ds enjoys a lot of the Disney classics, Dumbo, Bambi, The Rescurers, Tarzan. He recently recieved MVP Most Valuable Primate about a monkey who plays hockey, from his Godmother when she took him out for a weekend of spoiling. Being a hockey fan he thinks this is great. He also enjoys Thomas and the Magic Railroad or any other Thomas video he can find.
Dd will be nine in another week so her movie choices have changed a little. She loves the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movies. She recieved 'Sealed with a Kiss' for Valentines and watches it a lot. She also loves anything musical, ie: The Sound of Music- can sing along to the whole movie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Annie.
Both children enjoyed the Air-Bud movies, Angels in the Outfield, or almost anything sports orientated.

We own Pocahontas, it was/still is a favorite of both my boys. They used to act it out, now they are back into Lion King. We also have The Prince of Egypt-- that one is awesome! I want to get Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, I really enjoyed that one, with Donny Ozmond. (not the same as Joseph, King of Dreams, which is also a must see) My kids loved The Road to El Dorado, and are begging me to buy it. It was pretty good. We also loved Bug's Life and The Rugrats Movie. Waiting for Rugrats in Paris to come out on video.

We at my house were never big Disney fans...I have always felt everything after Aladin was pretty much unwatchable. My son really enjoys the Toy Story movies (which are very cute). He is also a Star Wars fan (got that from me). Some people feel Star Wars is far too violent for children, but I think that it teaches some good values and shows that the world isn't full of fluffy bunnies and wonderful, kind people without scaring the stuffing out of them.

This weekends movie for our movie pass was Rugrats Go to Paris - Rugrats II. Lots of laughter in the theater from adults and kids. DS and DD were bouncing around in their seats they were so excited during parts. One of the parts that's definately better in a theater then at home was during the movie and at the end when they started singing that song *Who Let the Dogs Out!*. Nearly every kid started singing with it! Who, Who Who Who! Some of the parts can be a little sickening. Lots of talk of boogers but they are 2 yr olds!
We are considering buying it but keep in mind we own lots of movies.

I've heard this is a cute movie. Ds would love to see it! :)
