For Christmas dinner with my inlaws, I am fixing a beef tenderloin, wild rice, brocolli and carrots, and a spinach salad.

For Christmas day dinner with my family, everyone brings something. My mom does the turkey and stuffing and the rest of us bring the sides..we usually have rice or garlic mashed potatoes, a couple of veggie dishes, a baby Jesus cake, and two pies..it changes based on the whims of the bringer! LOL

A birthday cake for the baby Jesus. Just a regular cake, but we write "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus" on it, and the kids sing. In years past we have done cup cakes so that every grandchild could blow out a candle! LOL

Ann- Neat tradition!! My mom has done that before, but I don't think she did one in recent years. I may have to remind her to do it this year. :)

My mom usually makes prime rib, homemade rolls, a potato, salad (etc) for our Christams Eve meal and we all bring a side dish and some treats and munchies for later. Christmas morning is usually homemade cinnamon rolls and a egg type bake thing....can you tell I can't think of the name? LOL! :)

I make a bourban glazed ham, potato casserole, green beans, layered salad, corn, yeast rolls, banana pudding trifle. Everyone else brings a dessert of some kind.

Last night we went to dh's company party and had the best filet mignon, with twice baked potatoes, green bean bundles, salad and I skipped dessert. The filet was the best "hunk of meat" I've had in ages.

At In-laws dinner is traditional turkey and dressing with all the fixins. So much food, so little time.

I actually haven't been thinking about it. I am hosting the Family Christmas. IT will be at my parents, but I am incharge. They want "senior foods" audoreves (sp??). I am planing a family game so all can participate. (Dad's wishes) He wants everyone together and talking. Forgot to mention that this is on the 22nd.

Now, I guess that I must think pass this.

Traditionally we have ham, potatoes, greenbeans, rolls, and a fruit salad. This sounds good to me!!! Now I just need to make out a shopping list.

thanks for reminding me..

We eat beef at Christmas (ham at Easter, turkey at Thanksgiving, and pork at New Years-although New Years has become less traditional around here). This year, I'm not sure. I have dds on Christmas Eve till noon or so on Christmas. None of my siblings are expected (:thumb: ), and I'm not too thrilled with cooking a big roast for myself and my father. Hmmmm.... I ate Chinese for Thanksgiving. How about a pizza? (My mother is rolling over as I type!) I'll probably get some strip steaks and make a simplified feast.

Yum...sounds good everyone!
We usually end up with two big meals...one here and one at mil.

Mainly the same things at both meals....turkey, stuffing, veggie salad, cabbage rolls, perogies, mashed potatoes, gravy.

Dh's granny takes all the family (usually around 15 of us) out for supper a couple of days before Christmas...she is 87 and doesn't like to cook a big meal at home. This year we are going out for Chinese on the 23rd....wanna come Cathy???

This year since we aren't getting to the hotel until noon we are taking a ham and sides with us to eat when we arrive. Then we will have sandwiches for our evening meal. Last year we ate at the restaurant except for snacks/sandwiches. The food wasn't so great so we are bringing our own.

Ham and scalloped potatoes were our tradition until we started going to the hotel 3 years ago.

Angie..why are you going to be in a hotel again?

We started doing this because we have 8 adults and 9 grandkids. It was really hard to spend time together and be able for the little ones to nap and the big kids to run free. We decided to go to a Holidome type hotel with video games, swimming pool, ping pong and lots of room to move. Then we also have our own private rooms to go to when it is nap time. I love it because we get to spend a longer period of time together and the kids love to swim in the middle of winter.

We bring big coolers of food and drinks and spend Christmas night. Although last year we stayed Christmas Eve and Christmas night. It is easier not to have to take all of "santa's" presents with us. The hotel is in the same city we live in so we don't have to travel far.

My own family (dd's, bf's and dh and I) usually open our gifts up on Christmas Eve. I usually make something not too big... this year I'm making Baked Ziti with Meatballs and Garlic bread. My MIL also use to bake a Baby Jesus Birthday cake but I have only done that once or twice since she died. (I know, I'm bad...) I think this year would be a good year to bake one. This year ALL of my family will gather over at my mom's on Christmas day. Were having Turkey, dressing, mashed potato's, cranberries, wild rice and a Christmas salad. Pumpkin, pecan and Apple pie... Yummmm!!!
