DD's school is making gingerbread houses with parents on Friday...we are asked to bring in a supplie, like gum dropps...anyone have any GREAT ideas  for something small like that to decorate with that would be different? I am thinking those mini m & m's?

I have seen the following used:
Frosted mini-wheats for "thatched" roof OR
wheat thins for roof OR
Necco wafer candy for roof shingles

You could use sugar cones with green icing for trees (mini m&ms could then be the ornaments on the trees)

Great ideas from kathleen. I have also seen licorice strings used on 'em, but can't remember which part of the house. LOL!

Our kids made small ones (using baby cookies) with their gramma on the weekend and used....frosted cheerios for the shingles, what looks like halloween candy corn (but in red and green) for trees, long pretzles for logs of wood outside the front door, and my favorite...dd used mini marshmellows and made a snowman...complete with toothpick arms!

Have fun Renee!

Geez, who can top all of those wonderful ideas! You guys are great!! I'm taking notes!!! My only suggestion is Tootise rolls cut in half (kind of a pain) for roof shingles or tree trunks with a green gum drop on top.
LOVE the sugar cone-as-a-tree idea! The little m&m's would look like colored lights! How fun is this?!! Have to wait at least a year to do this with dd, she's 3 and none of the "decorations" would make it onto the house!!

Thanks for the ideas, though! And good luck RCT (is it Renee?), let us know what you end up taking!!

Renee..what are you using to "glue" the stuff on with? If it's frosting ya'll can eat it, but if it's the egg white mixture better warn your kids in advance that they can't eat it! LOL My dd gets so mad when they make it with the egg stuff..she says "why do we put all this good stuff on it and then can't eat it???" LOL
