Well, actually I need two. :D

One is for the lady who took care of my fil when he was dying. She is 60 yo and rarely gets to leave her house. She is an amazing woman (her dh is just as great) and we want to do something special for them. Last year we hired a quartet to go sing Christmas carols at her house for her and her "guests". She cried. One was a senior in high school and moved away, so I don't that is an option this year. I would love to spend an afternoon at her house for her and let her have a day to herself, but I don't know that she could really leave the people in my care with no nursing background. Her dh does all of their shopping and I mean she maybe gets out a couple times a year and doesn't even complain! Anyway, does anyone have any ideas? I want something that is very touching or that wouild be a huge treat for her and I am blank! :\

The other person I am stuck on is my 80 yo grandma. She is still quite active and "hip". :) Just can't think of anything to get her - have done framed pics, Bath & Body, candles, and clothing in the past... Anyone? :tinysmile

LOL Renee about the grandma gift! :) I do like the dinner idea for the other lady and her husband. I will run that by dh. Maybe we could make it for her and the people living with her?

Karla, how about hiring someone with a nursing background that she could leave her charges with to let her get out for the day. I don't know if that is possible, but it is a thought. I also like the dinner idea.

I got my granny bath stuff this year, so I am no help there. Sorry.

How about (for your Grandma) tickets to a play/show??? Coupon for one of those "glamour" photo studios...or any photo studio? Have the portrait taken of your grandma with your kids.

How about having a photographer come to the house of the woman who took care of your fil...and take a portrait of both she and her dh? You could pay the sitting fee..and maybe buy a small picture for them, they could purchase whatever else they'd like.

How about calling the local newspaper and having a story written about the good things going on in this woman's house? Frame the article/photo for her afterwards.

How about delivering one dessert every month to her house?? Cookies one month...Cheesecake one month...pies one month...Ice cream sundaes..... etc.

How about hiring a hairstylist/manicurist to come to her house and give her "the full treatment"?

How about hiring a one-time cleaning service....they come in, and do the whole house...just once. (If she's not the type to have maid service.) (This could be for Grandma or the other lady.)
