Just read the discipline question from Leigh and see I have a lot ahead of me! I have to ask my toddler question because those of you who've been through it can it put it in perspective for me.
This morning at Mass, my 21 mo dd slapped me 5 times. I was at my wit's end. She is normally the sweetest child, but this slapping is really bad. It seems mostly directed at me, although she sometimes pushes other children. Someone told me that slapping starts at this age. What to do?!! At 21 mo I don't think a delayed punishment will work. Although I did end up not letting her eat anything in the car on the way home because of her behavior. I think that might have gotten through to her.
Usually we go to Mass where there is childcare. I think I've decided not to go if my only option is to keep her with me. It's too upsetting.
I guess this is good training for the more difficult things ahead!
