Thought I'd repost the peppermint playdough recipe here in case someone else missed it.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knows what the trick is to make red playdough using food coloring. All I get is a dark pink.

Saprkling Peppermint Play Dough

2 cups flour
2 cups water
1 cup salt
4 tsp. cream of tartar
4 TB oil
4TB peppermint extract

Combine all ingredients in a heavy sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constatnly with a wooden spoon, until mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Form dough into a ball, place on waxed paper and allow to cool.

Makes 12 portions.

I haven't actually tried this recipe yet so I'm not sure how well it works.

I just noticed that an activity suggestion with this is to let the children knead in red or green food coloring and roll it in glitter.

Good luck with it!

Sorry I can't help - ours turned out dark pink, too. To make the green darker I added a little blue coloring, but didn't know what to do to get the red to look red. LOL!

Hi!
Red playdough is hard!! Have you ever thought of using powder paint or liquid paint to get the red color??
Just watch that the dough doesn't get too sticky otherwise its destination is the rubbish bin!!:)
