How sad... and who knows the WHY'S of any of it! It doesn't make sense to me. This kid had been picked on by other students and evidently it was his way of getting back at them. What an excuse to take a human life! It's to the point where you're almost scared to send your kids to school anymore... for fear that you may never see them alive again. I'm wondering where this one got his gun from.

My heart goes out to all those students who were wounded, and to the parents of the two who died. What a freightening experience for all of those who were at the school at the time of the shooting. I couldn't imagine something like that happening at my dd's school... just awful! Thanks for posting a link to the story. :)

This is so frightening. I just saw on the news that the kid had told friends he was going to do this. Said he had it all planned out and then said he was kidding. How do we get our children to tell someone? That this kind of "kidding" isn't funny?

At an elementary school nearby there was a kindergartener that brought a loaded handgun to school in her backpack and was showing it to other kids. The safety was off. Someone finally told the principal. This girls 4th grade sister new she had it. Is this normal in some homes?? The father said that it wasn't his gun, it was a friends he was just keeping it for. Thank goodness no one was hurt. BTW - the father is in jail for it right now and the children were taken into protective custody.

Supposedly one of the friends at the party told his father who DID confront the boy about it!! He said he was just "joking" and it was left at that! IMO the friend's father had a responsibility to report this, either to the other parents or to the authorities!

It is just unbelievable to me that he was talking about it and no one reported it - even as a precaution!!! It is so unreal that we even have to worry about the risk of this happening when we send our kids off to school in the morning. Dh is a high school teacher and it's scary/sad to think he could be in danger just going to work! I feel for these families who have lost their kids - I cannot even imagine their loss. :(

it is awful that he was being picked on and teased, but I am sorry, lots of us were picked on and teased as children, or some of us abused sexually, and/or physically....it doesn't mean lets get a gun, and at 15 years or yonger or older for that matter, go to school and blow people away....good heavens, where do they get this kind of thinking is my question...what is wrong with OUR society that makes them even think of these solutions to thier unhappiness....its sad...truely

I also feel awful for his parents...the boy who shot these kids, they must be out of thier minds with guilt and confussion.

its just plain awful, and I wish I knew the answers to stop it...

I think this was an awful event. I wish I knew what could be done to stop it too. I would do it in a heartbeat.
