Hello All.
I was just wondering if anyone has ever made bath salts? Or even soaps?
I would like to learn how to do it, I think it would be fun to do something like that for B day presents and to do with my DS's.
Thanks

bizymum that is so funny that I would read this thread because just tonight I was thinking that making soap would be a very fun thing to do with the boys and would also make a really great gift. I have decided that this next christmas will be all about 'gifts from the heart' lol are you laughing at my phrasing??lol
I have a friend who made soap one year for gifts and I still have the one she gave me - it smells like cinnamon. It is so cool. I will ask her about it and hopefully you will get some good response here as well! :)

I have made both but it may take a while to gather my recipe's for posting... Oh actually one of my recipes I found on the internet at http://holidayorganizer.com/gifts/giftsjar/index.html . It has a recipe for candy cane bath salts and peaches and cream bath salts but you can switch which essential oils and colors you use to suit your taste. They smell wonderful. I made them as Christmas gifts this year.
You can probably do similar with soap, just buy a pure white, unscented soap like ivory or ivory soap flakes. Grate the soap bar into a pan and add color and essential oils to suit you. Use essential oils sparingly. They are strong. You can even add oatmeal for oatmeal soup.
You might also try a search on the internet I found tons of sites on soapmaking and natural homemade toiletries.
I do have a ton of recipes somewhere in my computer but I will have to search for them. Email me if you would like me to email you the entire list of recipes I have for toiletries.
