OK how do I do this avitar thing??

I decided I didn't want to mess with it. But now everyone has their pictures up there. I think it's neat.
We got our pic taken for Christmas cards this November. So I have a nice one of DDand I.
SO can anyone help me out....NIC:D

browse (then find where you saved it)
submit modifications

I've tried several times but keep getting the message saying "image is too large" or "too many pixells" I have tried making it smaller but still get the same message. I'll keep at it, eventually I will get on that fits.

I hit change avatar and I cannot find anything that says browse to find my pic. Plus I am not over 100 post I guess 'cause I had to re-register awhile back so I guess I cannot do a personal pic. But I can do a fun character I guess if I cna somehow figure it out????????????
